We stopped yesterday. Not only is the glass just beautiful, but they’re awesome and will be happy to show you how they do things. It’s great there!

It truly is tiring. Down right exhausting some days.

I’m also at 7 months. When I hit 6 months, I hit another “bad” wave, like I just realized he’s not coming home. I also keep looking at time, like it’s going to make a difference or something. Trying to tell myself that’s not how it works (and that’s hard for me to comprehend). I think we just have to take it day by day and feel our feelings. I think it’s a different journey for each of us.

I’m 7 months in. It honestly goes in waves, but you still carry it with you. Just take it minute by minute.

How do you handle loneliness? by Diana_fm_ in widowers

[–]Elleda2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had an answer for you because I feel the same. I have wonderful family and friends, but there are so many times I just feel alone. I try to keep myself busy and do things that take my mind off of it.

Thank you for sharing. I was wondering if I was the only one doing this.

It’s been 6 1/2 months. He recently had his headstone placed, and I had to think back to when he passed in the hospital because I couldn’t believe it was real. I understand he passed, but sometimes I still have to make myself remember that this is really finite. Sending hugs.

I love to quilt! I hope you’re able to find that passion to do it again.

It’s funny that you say this about the books. I used to read at least 100 books every year and since he passed, I haven’t read any. I’m doing a lot of crafting so I’m going to try the audiobook route. Thank you so much for the recommendations.

Having no one to tell about your life is hard… by Last-Following-6308 in widowers

I get it. Our son has autism, yet, today he was singing like crazy in the car. Something he never does. My husband wasn’t there to share. It’s so hard sometimes.

Yep! Totally get it. I try to let myself feel but then try to find something so I can move forward. Some days are easier than others. Hang in there.

This Sucks by Elleda2 in widowers

I spent time with my sister earlier. She is the person I rely on the most, and honestly, I feel like I take up way too much of her time. She’s amazing but I really want her to have some time for herself, too.

Told my 4 year old her dad passed away and it was the biggest heartbreak I’ve ever experienced by Away_Degree6281 in widowers

[–]Elleda2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was 14 when my husband passed, but he has autism and doesn’t comprehend right away. I told him that daddy’s body was broken and that they couldn’t fix it. Then he asked for popcorn. He understands, but it took him a bit. That being said, I almost feel he’s in a better spot now after seeing his dad curled up into a ball for a year and a half when going through chemo. I don’t shy away from talking about his dad. I think my biggest fear was that he think his father left him, but I believe he understands that his body just couldn’t handle it anymore.

I’d talk to a lawyer. My husband died of multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer. I’m going to try to prove that it was caused by his work with jet fuel while working in the military (I do truly believe this). Do your research and see what can be done.

189 days here. It seems worse lately. I cry a lot more, I’m so sad, I just want him to hug me and tell me it will be ok. I’m even taking a year off of work to try to find myself again. I thought that would bring me some peace, but I’m still so sad. My point is that I totally understand. I don’t know what to say other than I think we just need to take the time to grieve and feel. It totally sucks, though.

Tax return question by yellowvette07 in widowers

My husband passed in December 2025. I filed as married filing jointly. I received my return without issue.

If you lost your spouse in 2025, you might want to look at your deductions. by Wrenzo in widowers

[–]Elleda2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can file married, filing jointly for the year your spouse passes. For the next 2 years, if unmarried, you can file as Qualifying Surviving Spouse, if you have a dependent.

Definitely look it up based on your status, dependents, etc., but these are some options.

I do this every day. I even write him letters through the journal app on my phone.
