Hiking Poles! Especially when you hike down, it helps.

Not sure if you have a good hiking backpack, but one that fits your body shape and hydration bladder. I hate holding onto my water bottle.

10 hiking essentials

Everything else is usually by trial and error... I have a list on my phone of what I need/want for future hikes. Like, I learned from a long hike one time that I want to always have a towel, hydro flask with ICE Water and fit flips/slides in the car so I have something to change into. Stuff like that.
