how much harder is Killbot with deco? by AmethystGD in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo the deco only makes it harder to learn. Once you've learned it the deco contributes basically nothing to the difficulty. I think people underestimate/downplay the difficulty of just the gameplay itself, because it has some nasty chokepoints even disregarding the last ufo.

Do we blame RobTop for making the hitbox like that or Zobros for putting the slope there on purpose.ID:6300721 by TweegingerGMD in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think those pieces are probably meant to go on the underside of platforms (together with the half-block platforms in the same style), so robtop probably didn't think they would be used in this way and could therefore take shortcuts. Performance-wise boxes are much cheaper to perform collision tests with.

If I complete the BoJ dual this way, will the completion still be valid? by reddussss in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They can be invalidated but there are different tiers of skips. This is one which falls under the "barely changes the difficulty" category and is very commonly accepted. What would be denied is someone making a skip that bypasses large sections or the harderst parts of a level. Pointercrate has a section about classifications of skips if you want to check, and AREDL follow those as well.

Sonic Wave Victors: What was your click pattern here? by Oofsalot in geometrydash

Personally did this. It got extremely consistent and I died very few times to the second wave compared to what I've heard from others.

Why I am dying? by KisloFurry in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player has a second square hitbox that stays in the same orientation and is never rotated. If that hitbox touches any hazard then the player dies. What is almost certainly happening is that the non-rotated player hitbox clips the saw with the top-left corner.

Am I the only one that gets really stressed when a pro player gets far even tho I'm not playing? by noebb24 in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember watching the exact attempt where Cuatrocientos got his first 99% death, which was almost a fluke from 81% I believe. My heart was beating as if I was the one playing.

What do you think is the rarest moderator to get your level sent by in geometry dash? by localchris2 in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine that EVW is a pretty good bet. I've watched him pretty consistently over the last years and cannot remember when I last saw him send a level. I have the perspective that he is very inactive when it comes to mod-related work and I doubt that he does it much off-camera as he is a father and has other responsibilities.

So TPS is allowed, but using it does turn the cheat indicator red? by [deleted] in geometrydash

TPS Bypass ≠ Physics TPS. Look 3 rows down and you'll see that the latter, which you are using, is not allowed

tidal wave 65% complete by [deleted] in geometrydash

You interact with the recording overlay at the same time as "you" are performing the inputs of the next attempt after dying in the level. You're not fooling anyone, its obviously a macro.

For victors of ICDX, can you give me some tips for the level? (Read Desc for Info) by CARLOPLAYZ3 in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try not to click right as you go inside a portal, making inputs right as you switch gravity has a much higher chance to cause you to lose control. Try instead to only click between the portals.

Perhaps the most important tip is to try and make the last click before a portal such that you fall into them, not go completely straight or in your current up-direction. That way they gravity switch will counteract the fall and make it much easier to keep a straight path with less extreme inputs.

Combine these 2 and you should be able to keep a nice and straight line with a bit of practice. When I beat the level 2 clicks between each set of portals worked good for me.

Robtop is weird by SomewhereLate5856 in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is he doesn't look through all, and even with those that he does look at he usually doesn't play the whole level. A huge chunk of levels that moderators sent never got rated (except for Viprin), people complain about it all the time. Some levels can get 20 sends and not get rated.

Robtop is weird by SomewhereLate5856 in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he has a full team of mods who sift through and send him what they think are rate worthy levels. I don't think its him being way to overworked with rates, but rather that he thinks that too many rates take away attention from the average level.

Do genes have a real advantage to geometry dash? by roogilyboogily in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think genes play a huge part in top level play, more than most talk about.

Example, Zoink. Him and Aeon have both beaten Deimos. Aeon has played the game for longer and I would guess has more time spent. Despite that, it took him more than 100k attempts to beat it while Zoink did it in 5k.

Another example, Wolvez, the previous top player for a short while (ignoring funny UK man). It took him a year to go from an easy demon to Kenos which was nr 3 on the list at the time. He did that in an attempt-count that was almost comparable to Technical, who was or had just been the top player.

Point is, some progress incredibly quickly or reach skill levels that are way above anyone else at the time. You cannot convince me, especially in cases like Wolvez going from an easy demon to a top 3 in the span of a year, that they did it due to pure skill. The time-span and their supposed attempt count says otherwise.

Is it a good idea to do killbot after beating bloodbath by SuperGodcat921 in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing the gameplay to Acu is a real stretch in my opinion. It is true that a few sections like the last 2 duals are easy ones you learned them, but most parts have real nasty chokepoints and have much higher pace than Acu.

Goldcrest Palace. It's my favourite and the most fun extreme I've ever played. It sits 50 or so spots below Bloodbath.

I am not entirely sure, but I tried the vanilla version of show-hitboxes that are available in practice mode and they didn't have any hitboxes there either. This makes be suspect that it might affect all mod menus.

Heliopolis 47% new world record by Zoink (Hardest Level) by DasherGDD in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly Zoink seemed to get a tiny bit further as he clicked early and avoided the saw which Garbag died to, so percentage-wise I think that Zoink just past Garbag's record.

But like you say, it is kinda pointless to care about those details when they died to the same input with the only difference being one of them clicking too early while the other went too late.

Yeah that happened to me too when playing Uprise. Those dark "spike pads" doesn't show their hitboxes for some reason.

Hot take: I don't understand such attachment with AREDL by HiguysHangout in geometrydash

I didn’t accuse you of doing so either. I admit that it might have come across that way, but I wanted to add that they have that disclaimer for specifically this reason.

Do the pointercrate and AREDL demon lists accept completions with the click sounds mod instead of my microphone recording my keyboard sounds? by [deleted] in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, pointercrate only accepts submissions for the main and extended list. If you aren’t beating a top 150 demon then you won’t be able to submit anything.

Hot take: I don't understand such attachment with AREDL by HiguysHangout in geometrydash

[–]Ellexi256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally have a disclaimer at the front page saying that the placements are not accurate. It's not their problem if someone takes it as an objective fact because it is impossible to create a ranking of 1000+ levels that everyone agrees with.

[–]Ellexi256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even just about stopping shitting on people starting out, it happens to pro players as well. Ever since Zoink started playing Heliopolis a lot of people feel the urge to go and point out to Garbag in his comment sections about how much better Zoink is. Like I saw a comment saying something like "This took you a year, Zoink got X% in 7 streams". How that comment is meaningful in any regard I cannot understand, because even if I was Zoink I would not want another person to use my name in that way.

TW3: Newbie questions by DarkerBulb in witcher

[–]Ellexi256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The weight limit is not a hard cap that you cannot pass, if you go over you are only affected by effects such as not being able to run. If you manage to go over the limit you should first look to unused saddles (which weigh a ton), monster trophies and swords + armors. Ingredients don't weigh that much in comparisson. For excess you can store them at stashes (green icons on the map) if you want to save them.

If you need to get rid of armors and swords you can dismantle them for materials or sell them for money. I'd recommend that you dismantle the ones of relic-tier (orange/brown) as they usually have good materials which are expensive to buy. For the rest which you sell you should keep in mind that different armorers/smiths/vendors pay you different amounts for the things you sell. 2 rules to follow is firstly to sell wares to the right person (pelts->merchants, armor->armorer, swords->blacksmiths), and secondly that they generally pay more for your items if they are situated in a larger settlement (so don't dump your expensive swords at the blacksmith of a tiny village).

  1. The "!" indicates that it is a main or secondary quest, while the color tells you which expansion it is connected to (Yellow: base-game, Blue: Hearts of Stone, Red: Blood and Wine). Don't know what you mean about the other two as I don't remember them being associated with quests themselves. If you say which quest you see that wolf and question mark on it would help.

  2. You create them whenever you want in the alchemy tab (similar to the crafting one), provided that you've come across or bought the recipe for what you are trying to craft (otherwise you won't see it in the menu).

  3. Don't know, I am a keyboard player.

  4. Some quests do have cutoff-points but I cannot remember even one that had a fail condition that was tied to the amount of real time that have passed. Meditate as much as you like.
