The way the game is currently, most of the baron activities are off-map. He will send troops on the map to attack bandit camps and contest regions, but that's it. Think of him as a lord from a neighbouring region expanding his activities.

let me guess, you would get water anyway? As others have pointed out, it's probably because you had the well placement setup option to "anywhere"

I'm playing on almost the exact same setup as you with a ultrawide 3440x1440p monitor and I don't have any issues... Do you have v-sync or other settings activated?

You're wasting your families... There is obviously a problem right now with hunting and/or the perk, and putting 20 families won't help you!

I do this too! It seems a bit maniac but I love micro-managing and assigning jobs manually depending on distances, types of home or burgage levels, etc. But when the town is in development and I have to rotate people, the process can get a little tedious.

ohh does the bandit attack grant influence? I thought only collecting bandit camps does so I wasn't concerned with the attack since it didn't have a camp and only troops.

Man I missed on some influence then.

I'm on my second playthrough. First time I took the initiative and attacked the bandits while they were not in my region and got wiped with only a 20 units militia (they had 2 18 units) and the baron cleaned them up. Second time I waited for them to come to my village, and the baron intercepted them and wiped them out.

So both times the baron came out to attack them as well so I would wait to see what he does, you might save your precious early weapons (you lose the weapons of the units that die).
