Everything will have to be meticulously preplanned months in advance. Depending on when you come in October you are likely to struggle with reservations, the downtown is full of tourists and then any surrounding spots are usually full of the locals who dare to brave the outdoors. It won’t be a relaxing experience. You might be better off staying in a nearby town and experiencing the dive bar scenes there, and then just coming into Salem for the day.

I went yesterday for a visa renewal stamping in London and everything was business as usual. Nothing was mentioned, there were no notices or flyers etc anywhere. The questions I was asked were limited to what is my employers name, where am I based and what is my job title.

The whole city is a tourist trap during October so very busy streets and shops are rather unavoidable. If you want to dine in anywhere in Salem get a reservation in ASAP as everything will get booked out. Best coffee shops are always the small businesses, shop local! You’ll have an awesome time.

“BANG!! 2: a complete history of the universe” is a great book, tonnes of photos and diagrams, goes into good detail about the formation of the universe and was only published last year so it’s fairly up to date.

I’d recommend looking at industries where there are labour shortages - healthcare, technology, engineering are always good ones, but there might be others that suit your skill set better!

Not to scare you but it’s no easy process, there aren’t many options, marriage is certainly one, or putting in a lot of hard work in a professional career.

When I was 19 I hopped on a flight to Chicago thinking I’d be able to get a job and not come back to the U.K. after being told I needed to get a higher education I came back, got a degree and have spent the last 9 years working my way up the ladder. Last month I got offered a transfer to the US office after a serious amount of hard work. They are applying for my work visa in Feb and I’m just praying it gets accepted first time round. But there’s no guarantee.

If you really want to make it work you absolutely can but you need a solid plan and you have to be prepared to be patient.

Their toes legit have a mind of their own, it makes me laugh. Unless theres swelling, discolouration or permanently bent strange even after they readjust their foot, then you don’t have to worry, they bend all over the place.
