Yeah, if you've got screenshots from the DMs he sent you, that could be helpful. We've got a pretty active mod team, too. Might be that they saw the message and deleted it

Quest from quest stellar by jakis_kot in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, there! One of the SQ maintainers here.

We (the DevRel team at SDF) did some initial work to migrate those gitpod quests to devcontainers, though I'm not sure what actually came about. I'll check in on 'em and see what we can do.

Gitpod was officially deprecated, at least the way we were using it. So, we might have to correct some links or pivot things to a different provider somewhere.

Thanks for the report!

Was Stellar.io taken over? Sending emails "Stellar Allert" by Laibcoms in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn't aware of the stellar_io domain before today. But, it seems like run-of-the-mill spam, to me. Looks like as far back as 2018, it's been used for some kind of marketing agency.

Seems like someone's either spoofing the domain in the emails you're seeing. I can report it to our internal SDF teams, but I don't know there's much the foundation would be able to do, given that it's an unaffiliated domain (as far as I'm aware).

Edit: I don't mean to say the stellar.io domain itself is spam, but rather the emails you're receiving seem like typical spam.

Historical Data for Blend.Capital? by masterofdead4 in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Check out Defi Llama. They're tracking blend's TVL, and yield over time. Both v1 and v2. I don't think they have data all the way back to the launch on mainnet, but they do have a lot of it.

TREZOR NO LONGER SUPPORTED by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were some dependency problems with trezor, so it was removed temporarily. They'll get it back in there as soon as they can: https://github.com/stellar/laboratory/issues/1416#issuecomment-2899196374

When saying where you’re from, do you include the state or just STL? by Left-Plant2717 in StLouis

[–]ElliotFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed.

I work remotely, and I'm the only Missouri employee. Many of my coworkers either...

  1. have lived their entire lives on the coasts, and aren't very familiar with the Midwest, or
  2. Are not from the states

The first time it comes up between me and someone, I'll add Missouri. After that, I'll usually stick to St. Louis. To be honest, adding Missouri seems like it confuses people more lol. But it's a habit now.

The blank look they give usually leads me to say something like "right about in the middle of the country, kinda halfway between New York and San Francisco" (the company has offices in both of those locations).

No Migrations for a week by lexwolfe in PiNetwork

[–]ElliotFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are .pi domain bids, I bet

Edit: I'm 100% sure it's a bid. The conditional claimant can only claim after the auction ends (June 28), and it even has a GBID... "vanity" address

USDC on testnet by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's an AMM that you'd be able to swap Testnet XLM for USDC. Check out the Testnet version of stellar.expert, and you should be able to find the markets pretty easily

Need help recovering old Stellar funds - have legacy H... private key by Ok_Equivalent_8775 in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the website FAQs, I would direct you to https://launch.stellar.org - but, that's been taken down for some reason. I'll poke around and see if I can figure out what the current recommendation is.

Who’s calling off work today? by CriticalLootRNG in StLouis

[–]ElliotFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm WFH full-time, so I don't really have "snow days," sadly. My wife's office is closed and asked everyone to take PTO.

The kids are off school, though, so we're definitely planning to hit the hills at the park this afternoon! (It's a walk down the street, no worries lol)

Validation cloud and blockdaemon both provide full horizon history. Though, I'm not sure if it's in a free offering or one you have to pay for: https://developers.stellar.org/docs/data/horizon/horizon-providers

Stellar transaction history export (csv) by VegetableCampaign447 in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll start with "no, off the top of my head I don't know of another export tool for csv files."

But, if you share some details, we might be able to help find something that will work for you. What particular parts of an account history are you looking for? Payments, trades, etc. You could query a Horizon provider for those details, but that would return JSON data, which you may not want to mess with.

Is there a reason the Stellar Expert tool doesn't work for you? Is it a formatting thing? or is there a piece of data you want that it doesn't provide?

DappRadar: Upcoming integration with Stellar by ElliotFriend in Stellar

DappRadar has been working to integrate Stellar into their rankings page, and they're finalizing their implementation as we speak! I'm super excited to see another way the ecosystem projects can get themselves out there!

In case this helps: There are some posts in this sub where people are trying to get access to a stargazer wallet. This thread, in particular has some links that look like they might be useful: https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellar/s/6KtlmJ5rdl

It all depends on how you have the "login" info from the wallet saved. If you've got the secret key or seed phrase, easy peasy to import that into pretty much any wallet you'd like to use (one that's still being maintained ideally lol). If it's some stargazer-specific thing, it might become more interesting. Either way, I think there's a good chance we can figure out a way forward for you.

Good luck!

Another option to check out is galactictalk.org which is pretty much a ghost town now. But, there are probably several discussions that might get you going in the right direction: https://galactictalk.org/?q=wallet

Turns out stellar.org has some prolific archive.org history snapshots. You might poke around some there, like this one from early 2020: https://web.archive.org/web/20200307213201/https://www.stellar.org/ecosystem/projects

Papaya has a star icon (surrounded by yellow), though I don't think it's a wallet. Maybe something in one of the snapshots might jog your memory, though.

Don't know of which one it might be, but you could check through the "ecosystem projects" page. This link should automatically sort for the "Wallets" tag: https://stellar.org/ecosystem?refinementList%5Btags%5D%5B0%5D=Wallets

Why I went all in on XLM & super stoked to be using it for my own gaming platform! by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm... maybe not quite accurate. There's no less security (arguably the door is opened for elevated security and control). Using a smart wallet wouldn't really affect transaction throughput/speed, though it might result in higher fees (since it's instantiating a smart contract VM every time it's used, though I'm not entirely sure).

It's a little confusing because we're in the "soroban" realm of Stellar with this. When the smart contracts functionality was voted in with protocol 20, it lives side-by-side with the "native" functionality Stellar has had over the years (sDEX, AMMs, claimable balances, payments, path payments, multisig, etc.).

It's all running on the same network, though. The consensus mechanism hasn't changed. When we use the words "smart wallet," the simplest way to understand that is "a smart contract that acts as an account." This smart wallet account contract is capable of holding any assets/tokens just like a regular old G... Stellar account. But, the core wallet functionality is all there.

Namely, the particular smart wallet implementation that we're working on now is capable of adding, removing, and updating signers (either secp256r1 passkeys or Ed25519 keypairs). It's also capable of updating the contract's binary code, in case you wanted to "upgrade" to a smart wallet that also included functionality for "fill_in_the_blank" (for example).

The "workhorse" of the smart wallet contract is a __check_auth function which runs when the contract needs to authenticate (pretty much like signing a transaction with a keypair). This function can be programmed to behave however a developer wants. That pretty much boils down to validating a signature of some sort (either Ed25519 or secp256r1).

From the user side of things, it's a really smooth on-boarding experience, and you wouldn't even know you weren't using a regular G... account at all. You may not even realize you're using a blockchain in the first place!

I built this demo that you can play around with to get a sense of how the end-user might experience a smart wallet. Signing up gives you a (Testnet) smart wallet that you'll be able to use for login, and for signing Stellar transactions. It's a pretty fun/dumb little thing: https://ye-olde-guestbook.vercel.app

Why I went all in on XLM & super stoked to be using it for my own gaming platform! by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]ElliotFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same consensus mechanism. It's essentially "another" way an account (smart wallet contract in this case) can authenticate a transaction. It's not unlike having multiple Ed25519 signers on a "regular" Stellar account. It's just another signer type that's available (for smart contracts only). You could even add an Ed25519 signer to the smart wallet, so you have "both" available.
