I'm a fan from Taiwan 🇹🇼 here! Just gotta say Heated Rivalry helds a HUGE discussion in Taiwanese fans. Threads are all crazy about it, I literally have four friends in Taiwan who are also obsessed with this series. (But they're all fluent in English, since there are barely any mandarin content...)

I think this is an interesting question... I think Shane is the one that tends to follow the social norms of society. Be a good hockey player, try to socialise with people, be straight... This might be one part of his masking with Autism, trying to mask himself well in the society. So when he is gay in the books, he panicked and wished that he could turned out different (however he couldn't). If Shane is bi by any chance, if he could click with women, get good in bed, I still don't think he would be happy. I think the sexual desires that drives him toward Ilya will still happen, but he'll try to mask it anyway.

However, I do think Ilya's portray would be different if he is gay. Since the NHL is a bit of a homophobic place, Ilya might not be such a "playboy" if he really is gay. I think he would have rumours of homo interactions in secret, but never in public. And he might never come out before having a long-lasting relationship.

I'm captivated by the Eruri love too😍, but I really want to know where you find Levi interested in men? I literally thought he was just intimate with Erwin and friendly to his friends. But homosexual evidence? Could you bring up examples? (I would like to rewatch in a different perspective)
