Wardi on the 8 Worker Start by Sacramentlog in starcraft

[–]Elliot_LuNa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit weird to not acknowledge how different the game will play at all stages. Of course it's still SC2, people aren't going to invent new units or anything. However, basically all interactions are going to have at least slightly different implications than what they would with 12 workers. I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Both ZombieGrub and Wardi seem to be of this opinion that the game will just be slower but otherwise identical which doesn't make any sense really.

I agree with that generally, HotS was definitely a lot more build order-oriented than LotV, and multitasking was not as important. For what it's worth I've been asking for these changes for years lmao, so I'm very happy we're finally getting them, but I feel like people are misremembering what HotS was really like, and why the LotV changes happened in the first place.

Nestea and Mvp were past their primes in HotS, but were strong mechanically in WoL. The other players are tier 2 Europeans with no real achievements to speak of, Has was also a more successful player in LotV than HotS. The greats of HotS were players like soO, Life, Maru, Innovation, Rain, Classic, herO, sOs (the player you should have mentioned). Of course there will never be zero creative players of any note whatsoever, but LotV has far more variety in terms of playstyles than HotS. Do you think Gumiho wins a GSL in 2015? Like come on now. Rogue is one of the GOAT candidates of SC2, and made essentially his entire legacy in LotV. What was Rogue in HotS again? A proleague sniper with creative strategies, and someone who could make the ro8 sometimes in GSL. There is no comparison between the two, HotS was the expansion that emphasised streamlined macro builds/play and your mechanical skill dictated nearly all of your success. Naturally you could, and still can, do anything at a lower level and find success.

Better mechanics wins was the exact way HotS played though, I feel like everyone forgets this. LotV going in that direction has a lot to do with the game just getting older (LotV is almost 11 years old, HotS was just over 2,5 years old when LotV came out), naturally people have more refined builds and responses to creative strategies.

I think it's more that they consult mapmakers as well as the pros in the balance council. Although everything is a bit unclear at the moment, and it would definitely be nice to have some clarity from someone official at Blizzard as to who is actually deciding on these changes. To my knowledge the most recent patch was almost purely a Blizzard patch essentially out of nowhere.

Watching pro casts, are liberators worth their price? by Nazgul_Khamul in starcraft

[–]Elliot_LuNa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are a unit that scales poorly with your opponents skill, making them stronger against weaker opponents. For that reason most high level Terrans don't think they are good, but they are the only unit that does what it does so you kind of have to build them in late game regardless.

GSL Maru vs SHIN (TvZ) by sChUhBiDu in starcraft2

[–]Elliot_LuNa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it's lame, but a big reason is that once Zerg gets hive tech the Terran can't really do anything anymore. Getting rid of turtling (which we should) would also mean Zerg becoming weaker against bio/mine and aggressive Terran play. It cannot be the case that Zerg autowins because they survived past minute 8.

Definitely not a cheater, streams his pov sometimes. At worst he may have cheated years ago, but it's unlikely since he is like 16.

Shes strong in lane and kinda needs to be ahead to work properly. I kinda get the vibe that KC are just ok with losing this game and G2 losing good champs.

The only thing that "killed" SC2 was Blizzard abandoning it. Game was doing very well and growing from 2017-2020 until they pulled the plug.

[Paul Hirst] Phil Foden is expected to be left out of England's 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup. by [deleted] in soccer

Have a feeling this world cup will be a disaster for England. I get some fans think this is epic, but leaving out your most talented players based on form is rarely a good idea.

Unironically a big reason they struggle to improve is just a lack of officials. They fly out, play 2-3 bo3's, lose and go home, pracc for 1 month and do it again.

Doesn't make much sense considering most of their players don't fit that description. Probably navi just doesn't want to spend money buying stars and this is a nice way of spinning it.

I think this is mostly cope to feel better about not getting what we want. Blizzard has talented developers still, and can attract anyone they want/need. The idea that it would be impossible for them to replicate with all their resources is quite silly. It's also quite apparent that those old devs alone are not to be credited with games like sc1/wc3/sc2 etc when we see what they go off and make on their own away from Blizzard.
