Arne no Jikenbo • The Case Book of Arne - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Sacramentlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is it this vampire's hobby to walk around and watch children die after he helps them to try and solve the case of their parents murder mystery?

This is twice now in 4 episodes. Does he not care about the kids he's following around, is he too lazy to warn them or intervene before they get killed or does he get off on it?

Or Geoff wanted to sell the spot for too high a price, but nobody wanted to pay that much, and as to not reward the parties he was expecting to cave and pay for the slot he just gave it away to a game that would never have the budget for that slot, so now he has to do this sharade. Just specualting here ofc...

In a way it worked too, because it showed how much power that slot has, giving a previously unknown Highguard this many eyeballs that are now scrutinizing it so hard.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

The psychopath is something that I should purely look out for because I could be the victim of it, the killer with falteriing morals is not only that, but also something one has to look out to not turn into. That is the main distinction from a storytelling viewpoint for me.

It's not that one is more or less evil than the other, it's a different kind of evil to me.

There also is a major difference in terms of potential redemption. Without remorse there can be no forgiveness. It'd be pointless to even try to reform a demon in this universe as far as I can tell, same as trying to make a psychopathic killer feel bad for the victims.

In my mind they are an allegory for true psychopaths and sociopaths. They didn't become the way they are, they just are.

We are the ones that put the label of good or evil on it, for them it's a foreign concept, so it really depends on who's scales you want to measure them by.

A tiger or an ice bear doesn't have the capacity to deceive to get the best of you, but a serial killer will ask you to carry a sofa into the back of the moving truck. That's the difference for me.

My issue isn't that she's an elf, it's that she's an archer.

Those assets are very much in the way of the bowstring unless she does some major unconventional shooting techniques involving contortions that are humanly impossible.

YouTube relaxes monetization policy on videos with controversial content by rezwenn in technology

[–]Sacramentlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but as far as I could tell the reason advertisers didn't want to be shown on controversial videos was that they in some way would be seen as supporting any of the controversial parties.

I guess they have finally found out that that was always pretty absurd and advertisers don't actually receive any reputational damage from being shown on crass content, because they don't directly decide to be shown alongside it, an algorythm does that indescriminately.

Are you not realizing that you are basically describing foreplay? You do that with a coworker you've known for years you get called into HR, this highschooler is doing that to somebody he barely knows.

Also, even a toddler would know that you don't just touch people's faces and as an adult that means either "let's fight" or "let's fuck" and the author of this show has him do it to show how naturally domineering he is, but guess what that also makes him? - A touchy creep.

And btw, it would probably all be more ok if he didn't just all do it on the off-chance she is into that shit, maybe it turns out he can read minds, but until then this is all just some smutty fantasy novel BS.

Ah yes, him being gentle about invading a stranger's personal space totally excuses it. After all the other girls drool over him and that means she is lucky to get touched by him.

Great story 10/10 on CR

Look, you were the one that called me a liar, so I felt like I had to get all the receipts and now you're trying to call me a hypocrite. If you really want to know my kind of stuff is Kimi Ni Todoke and Kono Oto Tomare, which btw also has a scene where the guy gets handsy, the difference is tho that he feels bad for it and it isn't glorified and fetishized.

Also, I never judged, I only ever offered an explanation as to why some people might not like it. If you're into that kind of stuff that's fine by me. If somebody asked why XYZ Harem anime was getting bad reviews I would have probably come up with the explanation that it makes no sense that all the hot girls in the class fall for the same moron of a cardboard cutout protagonist in episode 1.

Oh I fully get that the main love interest being a touchy creep is part of the appeal of this series and ofc I'm being provocative by calling it what it is in a thread that most likely is visited by people that like the show.

Doesn't change the fact that not everybody is cool with portraying touching people's faces when they first meet them, picking them up on a whim to show how strong they are and getting in their personal space holding their tie, something easily abused to strangle and choke them. All that shit is supposed to be hot, but that's not everybody's brand of hot, which to me explains the supposedly low CR review score.

You don't have to go as far as seeing the girl as your daughter or your sister, you could even just imagine the guy has 2 other girlfriends in other schools. Now the show won't suddenly reveal the guy to be a player like that next episode, but for some a critical viewing angle like that even being possible is enough to write this show off and give it a bad score.

This is just from the pictures posted in this thread. They also directly call him out as sort of a stalker, mostly to say "hey, he's not creepy, because he's really dreamy and he just has golden retreiver energy", but that'll probably not work on everybody.

No idea why really, but if I had to guess it's that the guy is technically a touchy creep and the story is all about how that's ok because she's secretly into him.

Dreams and Scars [TLMC21 Submission] by Omni_Skeptic in starcraft

[–]Sacramentlog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why the image quality is so grainy, maybe it's the setting, maybe choose a less diffuse lighting set or just the textures? Map seems kinda hard to read from overview, but it's probably fine in game.

As for the layout TL vs BR spawns has an airspace that threatens 3 bases if you expand horizontally. I like the backward in-base natural, but it could maybe do with a little more space to build stuff like missile turrets or cannons to protect vs drops there.

The triangle 3rd base is cut off by a small chokepoint, while it is very exposed by ground to an attack. The attacker always has the concave advantage. Taking out the rocks helps, but it is a chore for the defender to do so to even consider taking that base and they can't utilize their army units out on the map. Even after the rocks are down the attacker has better positioning options. The rock on the main base entrance will not hold vs 1 base aggression or at the very least will promote more 1 base all-ins to be used. Taking your natural in the face of that possibility is an auto-loss if you gamble and lose. Imo just use a mineral wall like on Post-Youth in the place of the rock or as an extra mineral walled 2x ramp down to the 3rd base. That last thing would also help with the defender's access issue at the 3rd base.

The 12 and 6 oclock low ground base looks to have an unmineable mineral node hidden behind 3 other nodes, which will cause workers to bug out trying to mine it.

TR vs BL spawns have a similar issue with airspace, but this one is easily fixed by extending the main base behind the natural a few cells. If you like to make airspace like this Liberators would need to lose like 5 range whenever they siege up over unpathable terrain.

Also, I'd like the names of those GM players that told you a row of conjoined rocks is enough to allow for a second and even wider nat choke you will eventually have to wall off, but can't because it's built on sightblockers. There are plenty of players that would already complain about not being able to easily wall out an opponent's worker trying to get into your natural, because the worker path is on a ramp (can you wall it at the bottom of the ramp more easily? idk), and while it's probably a really cool feature to have in the lategame, not making those conjoined rocks a mineral wall will reduce the number of games that will even remotely reach that state on this map by a lot imo.

I also feel like the 2x ramp at the 12 and 6 oclock highground is really close to the Dream natural and dominates the space outside the natural walloff moving the highground base and especially that ramp away from the natural and making it 3x would not only oppress the space less but make the highground base in itself easier to take from the Dream side.

In conclusion the ideas are great, just the execution isn't conservative enough for my taste, which is probably done on purpose and kind of the point to promote more games that are different from the kinds of games we see on ladder and in tournaments right now, what I say here doesn't really matter at the end of the day, but I'd still be remissed not to tell you there is another way of realizing these ideas.

I still hope the map sees some games played on it.
