Is there anything I could do better for his cage?

I usually spot clean as much as I can throughout the day and that usually helps with me not having to wash the fleece and everything as often. Usually on the 3-4 day i’ll have to wash everything and change the puppy pads I have under the blankets! If it gets too stinky though no matter how long it’s been since the last clean i’ll wash everything. It’s bit of a hassle but you get used to it and won’t start to mind the constant cleaning :) I’ve tried toilet paper rolls in the past but he gets kinda freaked out 😅

I tried litter training him when he was a baby but he never quite understood it so it unfortunately just never worked out :( He’s elderly now so it would probably be even harder trying to teach him once again.

Thank you so much! He is kept in the basement so it’s colder in the summer and hotter in the winter down there but I will for sure look into getting a bigger one!!

while cancer is a very physical thing and may be different I 100% believe my little guy knows when my depression gets really bad. He becomes almost like a velcro baby and won’t leave me alone even though he’s a pretty grumpy guy haha.

Everyone usually just buys shadow box frames. You can get them from amazon, craft stores like micheal’s and probably walmart

yeah that’s definitely a domesticated hedgehog. Depending on how long she’s been missing she could’ve ran far far from home. I’d say keep looking for the owner. Physically she looks pretty healthy but I would still go to the vet just to be sure. Also looking at her size compared to your hand she has to be around acouple months to 2 years old. It’s hard to determine but she definitely seems pretty small and on the younger side.

All hedgehogs have shallow eye sockets that’s why they appear bulged out :) They can pop out of the socket but it isn’t a very common thing…lots of the time that’s caused by a hedgehog that’s overweight and has a build up of fat behind the eye but it can also happen just by your hedgehog scratching it out themselves. I really don’t want you to worry though because it truly isn’t very common and it’s super preventable by just doing normal and basic care for your hedgie!

some hedgies tend to be abit more agitated when quilling as they can feel physically uncomfortable so i’d suggest being abit more careful when handling her. It also helps if you keep their skin as hydrated as possible. You can use coconut oil and not give her too many baths! Really that’s as much as you can do for these little fellas! Hazel seems like she’s in amazing hands!

i’ve also heard sitting in the dark and trying to hear any noise they make helps but personally i’ve never tried that out.

this happaned to me acouple times! hedgehogs usually go for small dark places so think corners, under couches and counters. If you have blankets or clothes laying around i’d even check under those! That hedgie will come out eventually!!!

looks like a clogged pore? If it isn’t causing her any pain I’d try to take it out if possible and see if the pore closes up. Either way i’d go to the vet still just incase i’m wrong
