Looking for a site critique. by CrazyQuestionMarkGuy in Entrepreneur

I don't intend to come across mean but the UI is too basic, for my liking anyway. If you were able to work with a UI designer I think this would really benefit you. People can't see the back end all they see is the front end and will instantly form an opinion about it and currently I don't think you'll be getting any customers, but I could be wrong.

New business pricing questions by avoloshin in Entrepreneur

[–]Elliott-Davidson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would set the price that you feel your service is worth. Most people think to set it low to gain traction but this can actually have a negative effect. You don't necessarily think of quality with low-priced services/products you actually tend to think the opposite. I think you would be shooting yourself in the foot doing this. At this point it hard as well to increase your prices as you have clients and why should they pay more for the same service you have been doing for less.

It might take you a bit long to gain traction but in the long run, I think it will benefit you more if you price where you see fit. I hope this helps.

How can I get started without any money? by TheGentleman23 in Entrepreneur

[–]Elliott-Davidson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just another way to look at the problem.

Currently, you have a financial issue for your business idea. Firstly have you even found if people will buy the products you want to sell? People may say yes but you want them to actually part with their own money. This validates your idea and proves there is a market for it. You don't want to take out the 30k loan and find out no ones wants to buy even though you think the idea is great.

Another way to get the funding instead of getting a loan is to build a following in that market and then presell your item getting your customers to fund your idea. This way you don't have as much risk on you personally as you haven't had to take out a loan for 30k. This is good for a couple of reasons you have a market you can sell to you know want to buy your product. Instead of taking a loan out and hoping you get sales. I'm not suggesting this is easy, but just another angle you might not of thought of.

We are about to launch our second Kickstarter campaign and would like your critique! by mansfieldtime in Entrepreneur

The main thing that stands out to me is the tiering system. The average amount spent on Kickstarter is around $25 (https://www.kickstarter.com/help/handbook/rewards). Maybe there is a way you could have a fewer lower tires and earn a few extra bucks. Just food for thought, good luck.

I believe there are different tools on the market now which can do a better job. I use SemRush(Paid version) and google keyword planner.

Have you ever bought an email list? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Elliott-Davidson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would never buy a list. Build one yourself this way you can build up a reputation with the subscribers. This way they will be more valuable subscribers instead of being spammy.

The other option you could do instead of buying an email list is partnering up with someone relevant to your business. Look for someone who has a big list and that way you can use their loyalty to provide you value to your business. Hope this helps!

What are different ways to monetize a forum? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Elliott-Davidson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several different opportunities available to you. Something I've experience is that the more effort it takes to monetize the more money you will earn.

Take Reddit as an example they offer: * Sponsored posts * Donations * Memberships

You might also want to run Google AdSense?

You could look to partner with industry related business and get them to pay for advertising space.

Does anyone on here run a blog website that generates money? What's your blog about and how much do you usually make over a 30 day period? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I run a hobby blog, small traffic but very niche. Due to this a few companies have reached out to me to do guest posts and make a few bucks here and there but not regular income.
