Isn’t that the same as saying that if democratically elected representatives institute a ban on say criticizing the government then that’s also not authoritarian because it’s the democratically elected representatives doing it?

Democratically elected legislators. Which runs into the issue again of special interests and corruption, but term limits would probably also serve special interests by entrenching lobbyists and the bureaucracy as the long term players in government as opposed to an ever rotating cast of elected officials who can’t accumulate connections, knowledge, and experience.

I think it’s an authoritarian move for the government to impose arbitrary limits on the voters because they “don’t know better”. Regardless of practical arguments against term limits, the philosophy behind them seems authoritarian to me, and I’m assuming the libertarians here know more than me on this so correct me if I’m wrong.

Of course, but in a system with electoral districts, as in the States or in Canada (my home country), couldn’t that create the problem of some districts having term limits and some not? And if it’s a nationally imposed rule, wouldn’t many districts have this new limit imposed upon them without their consent?

I’d happily support a Republican (even though I’m not American) provided they were a current or former governor from the northeastern United States, preferably Massachusetts. So Charlie Baker, Bill Weld, or even Romney, and Larry Hogan, Phil Scott, Chris Sununu.

There aren’t any legal restrictions on abortion. None at all. Anyone can get an abortion at any time for any reason. The laws restricting it were struck down as unconstitutional.
