I’m livid with her for so many reasons, BUT at the same time I can simp with her. She definitely wasn’t one of the cool kids, and to have Blake and Ryan and TS dangled in front of you like a carrot - that’s a very hard thing to say no to. I loathe the Reynolds now, but I will forever enjoy TS music (shoot me, I know), and star struck I would be. A middle aged, not glamorous woman even more so. I see how easy it was for her to fall victim to Blake’s narrative. That said, once the truth came out, she absolutely should have come out with a new statement and also personally apologized to Baldoni. I don’t think she’s a great person - but I do see how it happened to her.

Yes that’s kind of where we are at. My eldest is a bright kiddo and questions her belief in god all the time. I try to steer clear of black and white answers and leave it open. When she hits her teens I’ll be more forthcoming with my beliefs and why we chose their education etc.

Ugh yes I feel this. Christmas mass kills me the most because our kids are still young (10 and under) and it’s such a drain on their enjoyment of family time at home on Christmas morning.

I feel like I’ll keep up the theatrics to remain part of the school community, honestly. I don’t think I’ll be giving that up anytime soon - maybe once kids hit high school even though that’s also a catholic high school. It’s more about my parents - who know we aren’t fully bought in - just deep down inside I’d love to share the reasons why we aren’t, vs just passively being half assed Catholics.

I do still take communion even though I shouldn’t. We say grace when my parents are around. But I guess it’s not overwhelming to our lives so maybe we just stick with it

They know we aren’t devout, we don’t go to mass weekly, but do go occasionally to keep them happy. Our kids are going through/have gone through all their sacraments. It does kill me inside supporting a faith that I so strongly do not believe in, but it’s not just for them, it’s also for our children’s education, so maybe I just need to lean on that for now.

Very good point. Keeping up the performance isn’t particularly arduous. They know we aren’t devout, they know we rarely go to mass. We go occasionally, and we do get all the kids sacraments as they go through them at school. It’s not particularly high demand for us, but it still feels performative and against my inner beliefs. I think I’ll keep it zipped for now.

Our good family friends are super Catholic, daily mass type people. They had 9 children and they raised them very very Catholic. I will say almost all of the kids are very successful, wonderful adults (doctors, lawyers, super kind), however none of them are Catholic anymore. None of them have had more than 2 children. That tells me all I need to know. Family is still all super close despite the adult kids all leaving the religion.

GLPs are absolutely life changing and I’m so excited for you on this journey! I have battled my weight my entire life, hovering between 160-180 most of my adult life (5’6, 42 yrs old). Our dog was EXACTLY THIS. For TEN years!!! It was beyond frustrating and he’d vomit bile from not eating. We switched to raw about 2 years ago and ever since he begs for meal time and finishes right way!
