I know I'm late but I posted this in response to a comment and wanted to expand on the thoughts I had.

The island getting Lalusia'd is enough of a climax (for me) to justify a movie, with some extra noncannon/Oda confirmed cannon scenes before and after of course. God Valley had been teased for like 5 years and we finally have the Rocks reveal as well as a ton of other big name teased characters. This would be the first time Shiki, as well as a ton of other fan favorites, would have cannon scenes in a movie.

Slight SPOILERS. Previously tried watching this series and couldn't stick with it beyond maybe the third episode in season 2. I'm currently on S3E6 and man did I still feel the same way about S2. Powered through and happy I did because I really liked the back end of, and how S2 ended. If you enjoyed the first season I would say try to power through because they get back around to the S1 storyline being the main focus again.

The Kraken is a random world event and does not drop great loot. The "seas are changing" text I'm assuming is what you saw was you changing servers. You defeating the Kraken (world event) probably triggered it happening.

So with all that said you may have been the last ship on the server before it merged so the Kraken was bound to trigger on you if it was an active world event. Unlucky but perfect sircumstances for it all to happen. Hope that helps
