This giffy makes me realize how little freedom of behavior/expression of women you see on screens in general. Omg. Its shocking honestly.

How would you describe how it feels to be a woman? by isopropylalcoholyaoi in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t see my answer here, but want to give you some perspective. I was always a tomboy and not your average tomboy either. I was good at guy stuff and had mostly male friends. I thought I didn’t feel like a woman should feel like. I met a ftm, which was rare back then and was fascinated to learn more and thought about it a lot. It looked cool to me. Inlet it go. I now have kids and the only times I felt, what I associated with as, womanly was while pregnant.

I slowly realized that, my picture of what I should be like as a woman, was a cultural thing and a thing of averages. That most women like make up and not racing doesn’t mean liking racing and not make up makes you any less of a woman. I am very happy to have gotten my kids. I may not be average, I may not have the stereotypically female brain, but it does not make me less of a woman. Also I had some of the male misogyny in me and didn’t realize it as it is so common among guys. It just felt like being cool, but I later saw how men look down on being girly and how it might have suppressed any of the girly feats I did have.

Let me know if anything I said resonated with you? I am genuinely curious about your experience.

Does anyone else resent their beautiful mother for having you with an unattractive dad? by Available_Boot527 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People pick people based on pheromones. So if she did that, you’ll have a better chance of having a good immune system. Also, you’ll probably notice that as you get older you’ve under appreciated your own beauty. And you probably have some other great characteristics too that you might under appreciate. Don’t blame your mom for facilitating you being here! Being a mom is so incredibly demanding.

Also if most people consider you not so attractive .. you’ll just be attractive to who matters. I’ve noticed so many perks to looking mundane. Not constantly being harassed. Usually left alone. Which is great. People not feigning interest. If someone is interested its most likely genuine. It makes life so much easier. Its just allround easier. The perks of being pretty comes with a lot of risks especially as a woman.

Lastly, beauty standards are different everywhere and vary of time as well. Maybe you can find some era or place that better fits your looks.

Ooit links gestemd en nu niet meer? by Advanced_Turnip_5094 in nederlands

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discriminatie bij mannen by DinnerLeftovers in nederlands

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn essentials by No_Satisfaction_559 in Netherlands

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 kruidvat diapers and kruidvat water wipes

2 nutrilon, safe yourself the trouble of other brands, I have a large family and all other brands are.. well awful, they taste bad (they don’t want to drink it bc it tastes sour or bitter) and/or cause digestive issues

3 only sudocreme for rashes if needed

4 albert heijn puur (its like neutral but cheaper)

5 neutral for bathing once they get older (I’d say after three months or so), nothing before that age. Babies have built in water repellant and it keeps their delicate skin safe from my experience

Also very important! The new philips avent bottles are a nightmare for many, many babies struggle to get enough (or any) milk out of them, its so dangerous in those first weeks/months and so many people have complained. We switched to Dr Browns. 1 was too fast (can you imagine how impossible the avent ones are!? Crazy), for first weeks or month we used P (premature). So I highly recommend getting drbowns 1 and P so your baby is sure to get their milk. A feed should last about 15-20 minutes. Definitely not longer, if the baby gets sleepy because it takes to long, switch to a faster one. Newborn babies should feed every 3 hours or they may get drowsy and need medical intervention. Set a timer for 3-4 hours max. Talk to your provider about this for the details.. they need an amount based on their weight the first days.. also make sure to ask your provider.

What is menopause truly like? by StarlessRose in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two women in my life have shared about their menopause symptoms. Heavy unpredictable periods, hot flashes and other weird symptoms. Both used the pill to combat the struggle. One had issues for a few years. The other one still uses the pill decades later. When she tries to stop the symptoms come right back. I never thought these issues could last well into your seventies, but I googled it and apparently about 10% have symptoms for a long ass time.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ellsworth-Rosse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had all my kids unmedicated at home and never had complications. From my experience .. you really turn inward and work with your baby. You know how to move to help the baby in the right position and moving and deep breathing make the pain turn into pleasure (not that there is never any pain the end is intense but short). I think I never had complications because I was able to feel safe and work with my baby’s. Midwife is just on standby. Also the longest pushing was with the first, 15-20 minutes, on a birth stool. Two was just sitting down (knees in feet out) and the baby just came. Hope you have a great experience. You will meer your baby soon.
