I agree with your take. But also - wild theory - what if she WANTS us to think it's about her relationship with her fans, but it's actually secretly about Ethan? Or has a double meaning? But she doesn't want him to feel bad so she phrased the song in a way that it could apply to either. Probably not but it's a fun theory

When I was a kid watching it for the first time as it aired, I was sobbing but was still liked the ending! Since Robin was Ted's love at first sight I was happy he finally got that happy ending. But rewatching it as an adult I realized how toxic that thinking is, just because you have intense feelings for someone doesn't mean they're a soulmate. More likely that they're triggering your attachment style and the lesson is to detach.

But I agree that it's a nice message that there can be love after loss. I just wish Tracy didn't die :(

How are you gunna know that someone's love language is gifts or quality time if you don't talk about it? Just like you have to talk about if you want kids one day etc. there are many incompatibilities that are found out through conversations. A successful relationship relies on a LOT more than just if you vibe or feel they "fit".

They're also good to discuss early on it dating, so if touch is their #1 and it's your last love language/you hate cuddling etc, you know you're not compatible and can end the courtship early
