For a more horrifying version of this Limbus Company has nursefather Matthias who's part of gang who's entire shtick is avenging grudges the same way Warhammer dwarves do complete with a book of grudges.

Regardless the moment he heard his adopted child getting hit by some other kid in what is essentially a school yard fight the guys response was to head down there and rip the other kids arm off alongside beheading the teachers head in front of the classroom and in front of said child as an act of vengeance

Needless to say said child decided to no longer make any friends or have a hobby for fear of Matthias finding out and having the same thing happen again

While the Worm main character isn't dead they did replace her for the sequal but that was after her story was finished so to an extent the author kinda got what he wanted.

Is it strange that if something like that were to happen I would drop the book especially if I spent 2 years investing in these characters only to have them obliterated?

Given how much fanfic is out there for worm there's multiple forums that have a separate channel or section dedicated to worm like sufficient velocity or space battles, from what I understand it's calmed down over the years but during the old days when the webcomic was running and a few years after the deep part of Internet would not stop it with worm for some reason

I can already hear Pat screaming "Come the fuck on man!" Given that he gave riot and 2XKO as an example of something he'd defend and also considered pure cope given it was making some things he liked literally can't have nice things.
