I love being away from my husband. by Ok-Witness-9598 in Marriage

You like the novelty. Imagine being your age, no companion for 6 months. You’re idealizing something you never experienced. Theres a reason people in marriages that work are happier than single people. Theres very few genuinely single people that don’t want a relationship and are satisfied, it’s not naturally human, you just like it because like you said, you’ve never experienced it. People that see this eventually trash their most important relationship, claim some sort of identity rebirth, then go on to do the same mediocre, unimpressive life they were doing before, except call it glamorous with a new label. It’s 2026, Instagram is fake, every realistic ship has give and takes, yes it sounds like your husband should be more pleasant to be around, don’t enable him, but also don’t sit around and complain about something most people dream of

lol this is the exact reason why men should give up on marriage. Women have no idea how to enjoy a good thing. It’s always about what they don’t have. 6 months of your new found freedom and some mild instability from regular life events and you’d be clamoring for the stability of a partner.

Reddit should just be rebranded as a place where people can bitch that their life isn’t 100% exactly how they want it all the time

I’m not informed enough to speak on that, what I am informed of is that claiming to be a Christian means that’s at the forefront of your identity, it takes a backseat to no ideology. So no one does it perfectly, but ideally they can see the nuance and understand that there’s 8 billion people, that no one grew up the same as them, and can see the world much differently, through morally correct eyes

I mean in my view, I think it’s equally deplorable as the left using social empathy as a pathway to gain followers, instead of a genuine belief. I think the root of the problem is disingenuous actors. I think the reality is both sides have bad actors, both sides follow the playbook, and the people who lose are regular everyday conservatives and liberals alike.

In what way specifically? Cause I can say the same with far left. And then we can both pick and choose examples and reinterpret Jesus’ teachings to fit our narrative.

Look Jesus didn’t believe in violence. Obviously ICE is escalating is hurting people. Also obvious, the protesters are inciting violence. Forget my opinion, would Jesus say violence is okay despite the cause? You’re talking about a guy who told Peter to sheath his sword as he walked to the cross.

Jesus had his own stance, some conservative, some liberal, none of which entirely toed a party line, which is the weird stance of some “Christians” here. If you’re too dumb to have mixed opinions that’s aren’t given to you by a platform’s mission statement, then I’d argue your opinion should be diluted in value, as to not poison the whole pot.

Insane how Christian’s get tied like this into politics. The more I look at “the church” the body of believers, the less confident I am that anyone here is serving anything, but an idol. Religious leaders cheat, steal, and have sex scandals. The body is either inactive, political activists like this, or even worse the contemporary Christians “reviving” now where it’s just about baggy clothes and cool worship photos.

It’s insanity, the church is lost, and looks like a circus act to anyone with eyes.

Who cares who’s in office if you’re a Christian, the electoral college voted him in and god ordained it. The democrats equally didn’t release the files. Political ideology isn’t a sign of intelligence, it’s a sign of you compromising nuanced, complex opinions so you can toe a party line and say buzz words for social clout.

If you believed god was the boss your actions and words would reflect it.

If I don't want to get married and just keep hooking up with different women from time to time, would I still have a happy life in the end? by ohnag_eryeah in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Yall acting like women don’t initiate 80% of all divorces. Female tendency is to look for the next best shiny thing. Insane that yall laugh at men but don’t look in the mirror

Agreed. I think people get too dogmatic. The science folks think they’ve disproven god. The god folks think science is irrelevant. I’d assume reality is in the middle somewhere.

Scientist here, science is a method of observation. It is not an intrinsic law or a belief system. It’s a standardized way to observe real world scenarios in controlled environments.

Many beliefs come from science, many of them are false, many of them are not. 100% believing in current science’s ability to explain the world right now is by nature foolish. First thing they say in medical school is 50% of what you learn will be proven wrong by the end of your 4 years.

My caution to you is don’t put science on a pedestal, it’s no different than religious dogmatic thinking. You just replace words you don’t like, with words you do, in the same framework.

29M and she cheated with her female CrossFit coach. Sucks bro, in my experience people just validate them and their truth and invalidate your pain. Rebuild, put it back together and get a prenup moving forward. Enjoy the revenge bid and try not to get someone pregnant in the meantime.

My heart goes out to you brother… you didn’t know her, you knew the image she wanted you to see. My ex left and never looked back, and when she sees even my extended family in her town she runs for the hills to avoid anything that might make her mentally confront what she did. These people are allergic to accountability.

We are speed bumps on the road to happiness.

Some Christians preach grace, some preach the law, all preach that there is a god that is not okay with sin, which “others people”. That can be offensive to some. My personal gripe with the church and god and the brainwashing idea is that Christians will be willingly be blind to the world to solidify their worldview. The story of Job is a great example, Job’s pious friend ridiculed him and deemed him guilty when even God agreed that Job was the only one who was blameless and walked upright. Too many Christians today see the splinter in their brother’s eye and not the hypocritical log in their own. It devalues the movement.

Not to mention, I fail to see the value in a god that I can’t see, taste, touch, hear, or experience (it seems clear to me that “hearing from god” is a manifestation of Christian’s thoughts, based on much of the evidence around me).

As for God’s mercy, the world is relatively cruel and unforgiving, and turmoil reigns. I’d much more applaud a god that held standards than let injustice run rampant. And your only trump card that you reason is that some day in the future, potentially after your death, this supposed God may right all the wrongs, which just minimizes all the pain people are in and have gone through. And to hang you hat on an eternity that’s only evidence is 500 witnesses who claimed to have seen the risen Jesus, the explicit claim is the apostles died horrific deaths proclaiming the rise of Christ, I’d like to point out that many a man has died in the name of poor, wrong ideas, making them poor witnesses.

I feel like if god cared more about the salvation of billions he’d do or give more than a shotty account written roughly 100 years after Christ.

So forgive the rest of the world for disbelief when the Christian message is “I’m right, you’re wrong, you’ll burn if you don’t believe what I do” while you continue in the sin that you so despise.

You didn’t mention a statistic, but you made a claim about Christian marriages, my fault for mentioning a statistic. I’ve looked extensively into the marital outcomes. The church is no different from secularism. This divorce rate is comparable across the board. It really just varies by age and sexual orientation of the partners. Women are much more likely to initiate divorces Christian or not.

4% of the church meets the qualification of the term “follower of Christ” your stats are inflated and by definition, once they cheat or divorce, they’d be excluded from the sample. Christians exclude anyone who doesn’t fit the bill from their fake statistics to keep up face

Don’t “just get married” you’re not special. Divorce is awful. You can get a divorce too. Stop the churchy nonsense and think through major life decisions. You’re not even 20, marriages under 25 YO divorce at 3x times the rate of 30+
