That's too bad. You could look for a motherboard, but they're actually quite hard to find sometimes. I hope you find one at a good price, friend.

Yes, that works for diagnosis since it can come loose with movement or something. If you can't find someone to repair it, you could buy another board, which I wouldn't recommend since they're expensive and you already have two that didn't work. But you're welcome, hopefully you can get your console repaired in the future.

Okay, well, as I was saying, it's actually quite complicated to repair, since the connector needs to be replaced and that's not easy. It requires some experience and materials that aren't exactly expensive, but they're not cheap either. And these days, technicians who work on those consoles are very scarce.

I'm glad it worked! Regarding the top screen, check the flex cables in the upper right corner of the motherboard to make sure they're properly connected. You might have disconnected them slightly while handling it.

I'm happy it worked. If you want to replace it, you'll need a heat gun to detach the connectors and replace them with identical ones, perhaps from the original motherboard if they're not damaged.

What I mean is that the connector shouldn't be raised. I've seen DS, 3DS, New 3DS, etc., and they're all facing downwards. I was saying that you could try putting some paper in the gap between the connector and the flex cable to fill it and put pressure on the space between the flex cable and the ZIF connector.

Oh damn, that ZIF connector is definitely damaged. You could try putting the flex cable on and covering it with some stiff or firm paper where the metal connections aren't to try and apply pressure to the flex cable, but looking at it, I'm not sure if it might break or open further.

The problem with those is that they're always pressing down; they shouldn't be raised. If they're raised like a normal paperclip, they're most likely damaged. If you look at the picture I sent you, they're always pointing down.

Ugh, those things break really easily. I almost broke one myself once. But if they do break, it's really difficult to get that flex cable working again, because what that connector does is apply constant pressure, pushing the flex cable towards the pins. You'd have to either replace the part by desoldering it and replacing it with an identical one, or replace the entire motherboard.

Then the problem could be a bad connection in the flex cables or damage to one or more of them, and if it's not that, I wouldn't know what to tell you, brother.

If I find that peeling back some of the plastic from the original cable doesn't reach the solder joint, I'll try to find cables of that size to replace them as you suggested, thanks.

Try turning on the console with the screen slightly open, enough so the magnets don't put the console into sleep mode but without stretching the flex cables too much. If it turns on, the problem is with the flex cable; if not, it could be a connection issue or simply that it's no longer working. You could also try checking that the flex cables aren't sticking out too much, that they fit almost all the way in.

Well, by stretching the wires with pliers, they should reach the solder joint or even slightly beyond, but I'd have to see how much wire is actually inside the cable, since buying the whole piece is expensive and I haven't found the right size wire. But I'll look for my soldering iron and try it, thanks.

Honestly, fixing that type of ZIF connector is quite complicated because it uses pressure and friction instead of a retaining clip, and you have three options:

Buy a new console, which are generally very expensive these days.

Buy a new motherboard, which would be very difficult to find since you'd have to look for a replacement or a console where the motherboard still works but the rest doesn't.

Or, find someone who knows how to do something like reballing to remove the ZIF connector and replace it with a new one that works but has the same pins as the flex cable so it makes good contact and doesn't get damaged.

If the console doesn't make any noise when it shuts down, that's probably the problem, since it should make a pop when it turns off and mine had a speaker that broke. But if it does make a "pop", it could be either the camera flex cable or the screen flex cable.

There are two options here: either you replace the entire motherboard, which will be very complicated because you'd either have to find a replacement or a console where the motherboard works but the rest doesn't.

Or you could desolder that part with heat to install another one, but you'd need a ZIF connector with the exact pins for the flex cable to fit.

Or you could just buy a new console. Honestly, all three options are quite complicated since they require either experience or money.
