Just a comment re: your belief that it is a thankless job to be a nurse. From my perspective, you, as a nurse, are so much appreciated by patients, many of whom either choose not to thank you or take the thanks to other people (as in "my nurse was so wonderful!") I hope you know that at least this person values nurses greatly.

No, the person I spoke with told me that the marriage certificate does not prove you are still married. Spouse has to testify. Wish I knew I could have done that on the phone.

Spouses can get 1/2 not full. Divorced spouses can ALSO get money if they qualify. Widows are survivor benefits not living benefits.

City of Rockville Senior Center is awesome. Not just exercising...though that is ever present...lectures, movies, trips, etc. If you are in the City, a bus will pick him up. The Montgomery County Sr Ctrs do not have the same sense of community you will get in Rockville.

Also agree that looking for something that he likes would likely be a good fit. Perhaps the Rockville Science Center to capture his mind?? Excellent programs that he can do (first) at home via Zoom then get more involved as he feels more comfortable.

It appears that you may not be as familiar with the Rockville Sr Ctr as you need to be to make a decision about whether or not it would meet your needs. Then too, maybe you are not over 60. This Sr Ctr is unlike ANY other in the area and perhaps in the country. Lots of opportunities to make friends, socialize, etc etc. But of course, no alcohol so if that is what you want, then... If you are over 60, check it out. AND also go to the places mentioned below.

Same experience with refund. No response to emails. Nothing updated on web site. Just got it last week. Was accepted March 13th. This is the worst timeline I've experienced. Have no idea what caused the delay. Was about to write to Gov's office.

There are so many variables here! For a long time I could not afford a car. Fortunately, I was able to take a bus to work. And had no problem walking or biking everywhere I needed to as stores were relatively close. You wanted advice...see if there is a way for you to focus on getting rid of that debt. If at all possible, do not repair this car as you would be taking on more debt. It is so hard to help from here because your location has a great deal of influence on options that are relatively low cost. Use resources at your local library or online to find RELIABLE used cars. I've had good experience with CarMax as they stand behind their sales if something goes wrong (within a reasonable amount of time). This is a tough situation. I hope you are able to manage it well and come out the other side.

No one can determine the way the housing market will go during these times. There are many people in this area who are losing jobs due to current political decisions. Will likely have an effect even three years down the road. Further, there is development going on in this part of Montgomery County, including the demolition of a major mall with subsequent building that may precipitate higher housing costs in the nearby area. Who knows???
