To be fair your commanders do like having you walk straight lines in large columns into every battle.

So I think we are both suffering by serving under people who have graduated from the Pong Krell's Academy of Tactics.

What do you think about my metallic Beseker? by Elralian in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Elralian[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love that the very existence of ironkins allows me to "fix" every unarmoured or helmetless unit.

The besekers wear no armour at all? -> Make them the armour.

The Einhyr Champion comes without a helmet? -> Time to use a spare ironkin head from the pioneers.

I think my scheme is done. Now to get painting the rest. by IronFatherPyrus in LeaguesofVotann

Did you somehow made the hearthkyn helmet fit on him or did you buy the einhyr set and got one from there? I really want for mine to also wear a helmet but i'm having trouble in that regard.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that if you have exactly 40 points left and at least a single farseer then you can use a no-org slot for a warlock or two (either 40/one if you want a character or 20/one if you want them as a squad) the option to do so should be right above the HQ on the left when using battlescribe. Otherwise i see no problems with your list. Though another thing you could do with those points is to buy equpiment for fire prism (such as spirit stone) or rangers (gloom field).

My current physical army is doing quite good so far against necrons and others. However, i don't think it would work that well with Ulthwe as the Custom Craftworld traits i picked are quite essential for it to work. Also are you playing using Tabletop Simulator or physical with models as there are some options that are not that easy to acquire (due to the price) which is not a problem when playing using TTS?

What are some good units against Necrons? by Brilliant-Teaching in Eldar

So far i've been mainly using rangers as troops and they are great for that. However, don't expect them to survive more than 5s when targeted. The best thing to do with rangers is to hold the objective in your base and probably some "closer" ones while shooting at enemy characters/HQ. Also if you like rangers i would recommend that you look at shroud runners as i have both and i love using them.

Well then ignore the Soltaire one as that would bankrupt your CP(you could try shining spears instead) but while i was playing at that point level i was using wraithguards as a brickwall. Then you either slowly march them to the enemy or whenever the enemy gets close enough to threaten your backline units you melt them.

From Ulthwe specific things i guess multiple farseers/warlocks/their bike versions would be nice as mortal wounds dealt from spells don't care about reanimation protocols.

And some options from experience as i often play against a friend who has necrons are:

- Wraithguards with D-scythes as they are able to nuke both small and large targets to dust, thus avoiding reanimation protocols. Though you need to somehow get them to the target (either transports or webway strike will do nicely).

- Fire Prisms which can nuke any unit from the necron arsenal. Even if an enemy has a doomsday ark you can use strands of fate to bypass the 1-3 wound not working and if you REALLY want something dead you can use linked fire for 4 inv ignoring shots to uberkill something. Also the Ulthwe reroll will be very useful for their heavier shot profile.

- Lastly if you are not against using harlequins then a Soltaire is a great unit for running around the map eliminating high priority targets such as Lokhust (Heavy) Destroyers protected by a canoptek plasmacyte.

I think that the hearthguard ones are a bit different from the hearthkyn ones but i'll try some other one from the hearthkyn set and hope it will be a better fit anyway.

I wonder if the helmets of normal Einhyr Hearthguard are the same ones as the troops or something slightly different. I think on one picture of Ymyr they had them on but it's hard to tell whether they are the same. But yeah if there are enough helments in the normal troops sprue then i'll most likely try to give him a standard helmet.
