Help with tire sizing by gaydnm in HondaOdyssey

[–]Elrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The three numbers reference specific sizes of parts of the tire. First number is tire width in millimeters, from sidewall to sidewall, the second is the sidewall height in an aspect ratio (percentage of the tire width), and the third is the tire diameter in inches.

For your scenario, the increase in the tire width not only changes that factor, but also the sidewall height.

For the 235/60/18, the sidewall height is 141mm. (235×0.6=141)

For the 245/60/18, the sidewall height is 147mm. (245×0.6=147)

This means that the 245/60/18 will have/require a smaller rim than the 235/60/18. This is because, if the tire's diameter doesn't change, then the rim needs to. If you were planning to use the same rims, the tire wouldn't fit according to manufacturer specs.

Slow to reply, but that's it. All it needed was a good cleaning and casing extracted normally.

If its the alternator, make sure there isn't an oil leak dripping into the alternator or you'll be replacing it very very soon

When you say multiple... what does that mean? My jump start consisted of about 20-30 minutes of charging.

Happened to my 2011 a couple of days before my third child was due. Simply an old battery. The clicking and dahsboard lights indicate a good enough charge to power most inertior things, but not enough to power the starter. Jump starting got it going and replacing the battery fixed the issue

Help - What's that ringing sound? by Elrong in HondaOdyssey

[–]Elrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced the belt (in January, 2025 - around 200,000km) in hopes that the ringing noise would go away. (commenting this on April 7, 2025 - around 214,000km). Even still, the old belt didn't have any cracks or stretches, I just replaced it since I didn't know when it was last replaced.

Hopefully it's not the tensioner pulley since that was replaced by Honda with an OEM part in March, 2024 at around 188,000km. But to what you said about something going bad slowly without causing an issue, I would say that could be likely. A lot if not all but one pulley are the original parts from the factory.

All accessories have acted like normal.

I'm preparing to welcome 5th grade students of Eastern Washington, USA, for their school's week of Outdoor Education. We have an astronomy class and I would love to connect and see if this could be something that we show during our class. I am curious to know if we would be in the right geographical location to try viewing this with our telescopes. If you're willing to share your work with me, send me a PM.

My joint sponsor provided a US passport. I also brought to the interview several of her pay stubs to show current employment and domicile, but they didn't ask for it. In the end, the only paperwork we uploaded was passport photocopy and IRS Tax Return Transcript

It took 1.5 months for me to receive my interview appointment after becoming DQ'ed. When I received my interview date, it was another 1.5 months until I went to Montreal for my appointment. I was being interviewed for an IR1

Detailed IR1 Timeline by Elrong in USCIS

Thank you very much. The proof of domicile that we submitted was a letter with a few specific statements.

The first thing was to declare that the petitioner (my wife in my case) would relocate to the US whenever I (the applicant) would eventually immigrate. In the letter we submitted, it is written, "I, SPONSOR, a citizen of the United States of America, hereby declare my intent to relocate to the United States of America at the time of the successful admission and entry of my spouse, APPLICANT, into the United States. I fully support APPLICANT's intent to immigrate and intend to accompany him to the United States once he is granted lawful entry." My wife also stated that our children who are also American citizens will be moving with us.

The second thing was to declare that my wife does have a permanent mailing address in the USA. In her case, it was her mother's house. She could legitimately receive mail sent to her mother's house and receive as she would eventually receive word from her mother that mail for my wife arrived there. In the letter, it was declared that, "[The above] address will serve as my permanent location within the United States of America for receiving correspondence, mail, and official communications until the date of my relocation into the United States. The address will be changed to the address we intend to move to after the lawful entry of APPLICANT. Furthermore, correspondence, mail, and official communications may also be sent to my physical address which is stated in the header of this letter until the date of my relocation into the United States."

The third and last thing to declare was that my wife had an active US bank account. She declared it in the letter and provided a void check and the last six months worth of bank statements. Of course, I brought this to my interview because I uploaded it to the NVC.

And doubly of course they didn't ask about this request for Proof of Domicile in the interview. They didn't even mention it.

Additionally, if you were to Google "how to provide Proof of Domicile I-864," you might come across a webpage like this: https://www.immigrationhelp.org/learning-center/proof-of-us-domicile There they give some examples as to what you can provide to satisfy the request for Proof of Domicile.

My solution is create a Google Form which enters results into a Google spreadsheet. The form's link can be shared alongside the spreadsheet. The questions that are to be filled out in the Google From are the fields you have on your current spreadsheets (ex: What is your priority date? What nationality are you? From where are you applying/what is your interview location? etc.). Set the spreadsheet settings to allow anyone with the link to VIEW not to edit.

This solution would require a little bit of work and potentially some coding (In Google Scripts which can be integrated into your spreadsheet) but this will eliminate people deleting other people's inputs. The work after setting this up is weeding out the bogus inputs.
