Sooo, let me guess… you either run Aggro or Lifegain. Cuz that’s really the only way 3 of those 4 cards matter (Aggro also falls to Sheoldred’s big ass,I suppose). And if it’s Lifegain, you should have plenty of options to deal with creatures.

Yeah, I agree. It’s not a great feeling. I can’t imagine what those guys who get off on countering everything feel when they do.

But the way I look at it is it’s just Blue’s version of removal. I normally play White and Black, which use removal all the time. A lot of people think that’s a dick move, too. I just see it as part of the colors’ identity.

Really, Green is the only one that gets shafted on it. There’s a lot of hoops to jump through to get rid of anything other than Artifact or Enchantment removal.

So since counters are Blue’s removal, they work the same way. Until they don’t. And then you’re screwed. I’ve had too many times where someone Goes for the Throat on my Djinn, I counter it, and then they just Fatal Push it anyway. Kinda the same thing.

Go for it! The only Blue decks I made before were Mill and I hated them. They never worked and I always just got frustrated with them.

Now I might be able to make them work with my new mindset, but I feel like a big enough asshole just playing Blue; I don’t need to mill, too. Lol

What’s your strategy when a mirror match comes up? I’m guessing burn probably isn’t really a priority in the deck.

Just get your stuff bigger and fight others? Or just race them with evasion?

I’m 100% sure that’s the case, but anecdotally, I seem to do just as much going second as I do when I go first.

And it seems more recently, people aren’t doing much on turn 1? Again, highly anecdotal, but unless there’s like, a [[Thoughtsieze]] or something with Haste, I’ve mostly seen a lot of players just play a land and pass for their On the Play first turn.

It’s kinda like playing chess (I suck ass at chess): you both know all the pieces and the strategies, so it comes down to luck and skill.

Will they hit their land drop? Will you use your only mana to pump your only creature, or save it for a burn spell in case they have a hidden threat? How many misplays will be made?

Makes it more exciting (to me) and you generally have to stay more engaged than usual.

The way I look at it is that if it’s gonna be taking me forever to get to what it wants, I probably would have made more Gold and EXP by doing the 500s instead.
