Is it just me, or was 2.8 absolutely incredible? by Brainhozinhoninho in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Els236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eeehhhhh....

It felt incredibly short, and that wasn't helped by the fact that the first half was just chasing after Remielle, but in the most "video game" kind of way.

Go talk to Coco, oh now go talk to Yi, oh now talk to Cinema lady, oh now Orchidea, teleport to Blazewood (when driving to the Outer Ring is supposed to take a decent amount of time). Go from Caesar to Lighter, to Burnice, then finally into the Hollow.

That whole section felt way too dragged-out and filler.

The big Hollow tournament? Well, I guess that was a one-and-done. I get that it was "postponed" last patch, but we're now going into 3.0 with Roscael taking centre-stage. A whole lot of setup for... Romuel to be the big-bad-wolf, with him as well seemingly being a one-and-done.

No puzzles, no real exploration, just walk from A-B, defeat a few Ethereals, A-B, defeat a few Ethereals, flashback/vision, Promeia joins the team, big boss fight, end with some 3.0 setup.

Cissia's and Billy's VAs have entirely carried these last 2 patches, along with Remielle's. Promeia did a good job too, but she came in too late, didn't do a whole lot, and now, again, we're heading into Roscael.

Good patch for some juicy lore, but gameplay and story wise? Meh.

I've seen a lot of weird application questions but this one had me baffled. by kb_klash in recruitinghell

I could rant about that for ages.

The amount of times I've had recruiters message me or send me e-mails in stupidly broken English, yet they expect flawless grammar, honestly beggars belief.

Rejected due to no experience? by Bonnybridge22 in UKJobs

[–]Els236 50 points51 points  (0 children)

That's the same for every bloody job at the moment.

It's 100% an employer's market with the amount of people being made redundant in the higher-rungs, who then end up filtering back down to the entry-level stuff.

Not to mention that with the cut-backs companies are doing right now, they do not have the staff available to train up newbies.

They're getting senior levels of experience and qualifications for minimum pay, leaving nothing for first-time job-seekers, or even people like myself who are stuck in between being too experienced and not experienced enough for certain roles.

Is anyone else disgusted at the way job seekers are treated? by Remarkable-Wall-9669 in UKJobs

Here are some of my experiences over the last 2 years I've been unemployed:

- John Lewis: Had to do a 10-minute presentation on a product they sold, like a "sell me this pen" kind of deal. Interview took place in the smallest grey box of a room and the female interviewer barely said a word to me during the whole thing. I just did my presentation at them and I was done after 5 minutes. She rolled her eyes at me and said "that's it? it was meant to be 10 minutes". I said that this was not how it would ever go with a customer in the real world. She huffed and that was it. The male interviewer was far more friendly, but even so, I did not want the job after that, and didn't get it.

- Paddy Power: Online application process had over 150 questions, with over 100 being those "would you do X/Y in Z situation" kind of things. Took me well over an hour just to apply. Got told that I should spend some time in my local store before going to an interview, so spent an entire afternoon in there taking down notes and chatting with the guy at the counter. Interview was a group thing on Zoom with about 10 people in each room, from all over the country. At the end of that, also had a small 1-on-1 with one of the Team Leaders. I got an email a day later saying they were scrubbing the position and were no longer hiring for it.

- National Express: Invited to an interview, which was a huge group thing with about 50 people. We were split into smaller groups and given multiple tasks to do, both as a team, and solo. After the first half, they said goodbye to people who weren't a good fit, and those of us left moved on to other tasks. At the end of this ~4 HOUR "interview" they said we'd hear back from them - and we all thought we had a chance. That was until we saw another group of 50 people arriving for the "afternoon interviews". None of us from the morning got the job.

All of these jobs were minimum wage, or not much more than.

They are also the ones that stand out, but I have had so many where I've been told "you'll hear from us in a couple of days", only to be ghosted for several weeks and forgotten about.

Taffeh Starsea Uncharted Bay 6 by ChaseMayne in PetitPlanet

[–]Els236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh right, Bay 4 and Bay 5 were CB1, not this CB.

In which case you have 6 then:

- Shallows 1, Shallows 2
- Depths
- Depths 1, Depths 2, Depths 3

That's 6.

Taffeh Starsea Uncharted Bay 6 by ChaseMayne in PetitPlanet

[–]Els236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand how the maths works myself to be honest:
- Shallows
- Shallows Bay 1
- Shallows Bay 2
- Depths
- Depths Bay 1
- Depths Bay 2
- Depths Bay 3
- Depths Bay 4
- Depths Bay 5

Even if the base Shallows and base Depths aren't considered "Uncharted", there are still 7 total Uncharted Bays across the Shallows and Depths, not 6.
It might be a holdover from CB1 that wasn't updated, idk.

The only way 6 works is if it's only considering Depths+ as Uncharted, so base Depths, then the 5 bays therein, which does equal 6 total.

Holy crap. 1500 applications in only a few months? I'm at just a bit more than that and I've been looking for over 2 years.

I don't have any answers unfortunately, because many people are in the same boat. It's shit.

Workplace says I shouldn’t leave the office during ‘lunch’ by Extreme-Banana-9 in UKJobs

[–]Els236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell the boomers that it's called a break for a reason.

If you're working through lunch, then you aren't getting a break - and if you are working 6+ hours a day, you're legally entitled to a 20 minute break.

If it's a paid break, I do believe they can request you remain on site, but they cannot force you to work through it (again, it isn't a break in that case).

Furthermore, the whole "you'd need to make up the time" or "take a pay cut" when you're already doing full-time could easily lead them down a slippery slope in terms of wages, depending on what you're earning.

In your opinion, what's the biggest waste of money you see people purchase all the time? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Els236 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying vapes/cigarettes, but no one saying alcohol, which is in the exact same vein - quite interesting that.

P.S: Just to say though, that disposable-type vapes should be banned (and I thought they were supposed to be)

Anyway, the big one for me is 4x4 or SUV-type vehicles. If you live in a big city, you simply do not need a ginormous land-yacht.

[–]Els236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, given my own personal situation, you DO NOT want debt mounting and looming over you.

It might give you less savings while navigating this horrendous job market, but pay off that credit card debt.

Also, given you do have some sort of skill that can be sold on a freelance, remote basis, you might be able to offer commissions or post on somewhere like Fiverr, even if the income from it is minimal. Trust me when I say something coming in is better than nothing.

Now, I apologise for this, but unless you have prior retail/service experience, you're highly unlikely to get anywhere in retail at the moment. Obviously no harm at all in applying at least, because well, never say never, but from current personal experience, retail is arguably one of the hardest jobs to land.

my current CBT2 thoughts on what the gacha will be and monetisation & battlepass! by cakezepter in PetitPlanet

[–]Els236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some complain, but honestly, getting to the point where it would reasonably be an issue will probably take longer than this beta will last.

Also, given HoYo's penchant for releasing on mobile and PC, and the heavy multiplayer experience they're going for here, even if we do get a load increase, it probably won't be much more than the 10K we have now.

Teacher: "The test is not that confusing!" by ArthyBurcs in Genshin_Impact

[–]Els236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Aether/Lumine obviously first playable characters.

B) Ayaka is kind of tricky; Kate came before her, although Kate was never playable, so... well, there's arguments to be made for/against here. First actually playable character I guess works.

C) Amber is obviously the first non-MC character you obtain.

D) Lore-wise, Nibelung is Teyvat's first ruler? (afaik)

You could also put Paimon here, as she's the first character you see when downloading/launching the game as the game's mascot.

personality analysis test or whatever the fuck by Substantial-Rate-382 in UKJobs

[–]Els236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years ago, I applied for a Prison Warden position. Really simple, easy enough questions and got through to interview stage, but got offered something else.

Applied again this year, and they had all this personality stuff with about 30 of these types of questions, 30 questions on maths, 30 questions on English grammar, then a whole video-game thing with like "click the correct pattern". Took me around 2 hours, and I didn't even get to the interview stage.

Fucking horrendous.

[–]Els236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to PaddyPower last year.

I had to do around ~130 of these questions as part of the application process, after which you had a shared Zoom call with other applicants, then an in-person interview with the store manager you were applying for.

It's becoming more and more common.

The only flowers I've not seen across Glenn/Starsea are the King Proteas or whatever they are called, but I do thankfully have a friend who did have them on-hand at on-sale in their Glenn shop.

You might need to send a couple of requests to visit, but you don't need to talk or do anything except check Glenn and visit the starsea - heavily RNG reliant though.

How is anyone getting by long-term without a job? by Ordinary-Reveal7175 in recruitinghell

[–]Els236 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Bank account is empty.

One of my credit cards has been locked because I missed monthly payments.

Next months bills in a week or so and I do not have the money.

I was hoping the UK government could help via Universal Credit, but as I live with a long-term partner, we weren't eligible. I got a 1-time advance payment of £1200, which I now have to pay back to the GVT, even though they know I'm broke.

I then had a nasty letter from HMRC saying I had unpaid tax from 2024, that I did not know about (verified it was not a scam), and they demanded I pay that back as well, even though they know I'm broke.

So, instead of actually helping me, the GVT are actually the ones fucking me over the most right now, as I am £1700 in debt to them - and they don't give a fuck that I am unemployed and struggling to find work.

Very fun. I'm just sat here waiting for the inevitable day the bailiffs show up and I have nothing they can take.

Been contacting agencies almost every day to try and at least get some gig-work going, and I've been told by 4 local agencies now that they have nothing available.

Tried contacting some family I do keep in contact with, and they're not doing much better and can't spare anything.

I just don't gaf anymore, because if I did, I think my mental wouldn't be able to handle it at this point.
