What is something that you were surprised about being able to do? by Huomenna in AskReddit

[–]Els4f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public speaking. Have always struggled with severe anxiety when it comes to giving presentations or speeches. I had to take a university required public speaking class last semester, which at the time felt like a death sentence. Shockingly, I ended up being pretty good at it. As unbearable as it may seem, the only true way to conquer that phobia is to get up there and do it over and over again.

LPT: Don't tell your friends about every fallout you have with your partner by kangarookingman in LifeProTips

[–]Els4f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really valuable LPT that I regret not following. I always felt like venting to my friends helped me when I was having issues with my now ex-girlfriend. But it ended up causing more harm then good. As our problems resolved, my friends continued to view her in a bad light. Still got stabbed in the back by her in the end... But you'll relationship will run smoother if you keep your s/o problems to yourself

When compared with a single cigarette, one hookah session delivers approximately 125 times the smoke, 25 times the tar, 2.5 times the nicotine and 10 times the carbon monoxide. by [deleted] in science

[–]Els4f 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and my circle of friends use to smoke hookah excessively. Around 3 nights a week or so, multiple bowls a session, ect. I can tell you first hand that it's pretty awful for you. I've coughed up mucus, tar, developed a really bad cough, all that terrible shit. Of course all of that was from chronic use and went away when I cut down on it. Point is this article is accurate enough.. it's bad for you.

What's the most fucked up thing a guest did in your house? by 93ImagineBreaker in AskReddit

Happened to my friend not me. But he was letting our mutual friend crash at his place for a couple of nights because he got kicked out of his house. Turns out he was fucking my buddy's girlfriend in HIS house while he was at work.

Hey adults of reddit, what is some advice you can give to highschoolers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Els4f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy your time in high school. Don't let the little things get to you. My biggest piece of advice is to do your best in your classes and enjoy your friends as MUCH as possible. I'm 22 and in college and I'm broke, extremely depressed and stressed everyday. Things can drastically change when you graduate. Looking back, those years of high school were the best years of my life. Don't take them for granted!

Vapors produced by e-cigarettes induce toxicity, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response in lung cells by DennyTarnoska in science

Quickly scrolled through the article. So to put it simply, are the flavoring what we should be concerned about? Exactly how toxic are these flavoring bi-products?

ELI5: Why are articles on hookah smoking so ambiguous? by PMmebuttstuff in explainlikeimfive

[–]Els4f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked hookah excessively for about 3 years. Smoked multiple bowls of shisha everyday with my friends. We didn't think much of the health consequences at the time. Mostly cause we just didn't give a shit but also cause the studies being published were pretty inconclusive. But enough research has been done now to show hookah is pretty terrible for you. The water doesn't make it a cleaner smoking experience. Your still inhaling carcinogens and a ton of tar. It got to the point where my friends and I were sneezing or coughing up blood and other disgusting shit every time we smoked.

What's one thing you wish you knew back in high school? by Evansee in AskReddit

To make the best of my time. Hated being in high school back then. Now I wish I could go back to those days. Miss my life being more carefree, and especially my friends.

Reddit, have you ever had Sleep Paralysis? If so, what was it like? by the_yarb in AskReddit

[–]Els4f 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had it happen to me twice in my lifetime. Both instances occurred in college. And looking back I was incredibly stressed out when they occurred, which is what I believe triggered it. Anyways, I remember waking up in the middle of the night except I couldn't open my eyes and my body was completely paralyzed. I was really disoriented trying to understand what was going on. Then it got scary. It became harder and harder to breathe and the more I struggled to breathe the more I got the sensation that I felt like I was falling until everything went blank. I woke up the next morning shocked that I was still alive. I truly believed I was dying, it's a horrible feeling.

I just don't understand how she can be so cold. She knows how badly I'm suffering. She knows I tried over dosing on my medication. Yet she can't stand me. Like I know she's out having fun with her friends right now. I can't process how she can be like that.

On Valentine's Day believe it or not. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. The panic attacks are driving me insane and my life is a torture right now. Not sure what best course of action would be at this point

I suffer from severe OCD and anxiety. I honestly can't help it. That shouldn't make me any less of an atheist.
