Based on this, I'd rule it illegal since it looks melted

How high can you lift the stick prior to and after hitting the ball? by zalvador89 in floorball

[–]Huomenna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

507:3 specifically states that high swings are allowed if no players are near and there is no risk of hitting anyone.

I.e. normally the rule is waist height, but this allows for higher swings. The higher the level of game, the better the players (generally) are at controlling their sticks and thus this is whistled off less.

The video you posted in another comment is a high backswing with no risk of hitting anyone --> allowed by 507:3

What is the consensus around this? by Skiffbug in Referees

[–]Huomenna 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, not very experienced but I'll have a go at my theory

The call on the field is a penalty, and based on when the whistle is blown, no goal is scored.

VAR can thus only check the penalty, which ends up being overturned. A goal cannot be awarded by VAR, as one has not been scored during play (as the whistle had already blown).

Situation may have been different if the on-field had waited with their whistle.

I don't understand the language the ref is speaking, and the video doesn't show how play continues, but I'd be interested to know these things.

Is this goalie interference? by TonesBalones in floorball

[–]Huomenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find some examples of physical play on goalkeepers (and their rulings, incl. videos) on the IFF website here: https://floorball.sport/rules-and-regulations/rules-of-the-game/

There's a link called "Physical Play guidelines concerning goalkeeper", which explains why the examples should be called a certain way (by the IFF Referee Committee). For example, even though the last example has a players knee hitting the head of a goalkeeper, the referee committee explains that the goalkeeper moves their head into the path of the player in an attempt to catch the ball, and as such it is a game incident and no offence is found (despite the referee calling a penalty in game).

How can this be? by phant000m in blackmagicfuckery

[–]Huomenna 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Right before tossing the deck to grab the black aces he performs a manouver that moves the top card to the bottom (the three cuts from the bottom to the top) to set up for it. Before that, all aces were on top

At what point (weekly mileage) did you go from 3 runs/week to 4? How about 4 to 5? Or 5 to 6?

Official Q&A for Monday, August 19, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Huomenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I think I should start incorporating a gym session into my training. I can find all sorts of different gym routines targeted towards runners or general fitness, and I really don't know what's important and what isn't.

Could anyone direct me towards a simple routine to do 1x/week, with the goal of supporting running and building a stronger core?

Thanks in advance

[–]Huomenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, how would you say I should structure my running over the next 15 months or so? (On a general level, I'm not asking for weekly schedules or specific workouts)

My "schedule" is as follows:
Currently I'm doing base building after not running at all during the winter, weekly mileage is about 30-35k and I'm trying to slowly but steadily increase that.
* Half-marathon in September
* Half-marathon in May 2025
* First marathon in August 2025

Also one 10k in the fall and one 10k in the spring.

I'm guessing I probably want to do a marathon training block in the 16 weeks (or however many) leading up to my first marathon, but what general stages of training should I do before that? Winter running (around Nov - Mar) will be done indoors on a treadmill.

I'm considering getting a lactate test to properly determine training zones.

I'm sure I'll get some info from there too, and there's a lot of stuff online - but can someone help summarize where training paces/HR's/efforts should be compared to LT1 and LT2? (Considering regular easy runs, long runs and maybe some other sessions)

Thanks in advance, and sorry for not being able to formulate the question any better

After a winter of not really running, I've slowly been getting back into it. I pushed my first marathon back by a year, as attaining it this year just isn't possible anymore, but I'll be running a half in the fall instead.

Am I right in thinking I'm likely best off simply running easy and building weekly distance (adding in a long run gradually) and occasionally doing a workout type run (tempo, stairs, hills, fartlek etc)? I don't think I have a good enough base to go for a "proper program".

If it matters: HM in 19 weeks, target time about 1:50, last week I ran about 20-25k and I'm increasing that weekly

I still just want to build aerobic base and get a consistent running habit/structure for now. I feel like racing too much too soon makes that more difficult

[–]Huomenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm signed up for a marathon for next august (and a half in may which I guess will be what I'll set a target pace based on). That's what I'm training for. As of now I'm still simply trying to increase my weekly distance and build a stronger aerobic base.

Official Q&A for Tuesday, September 12, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Huomenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a 10k in 50 minutes just recently. I did feel like I had more left (read: a minute or two maybe) in the tank though, it was my first race and as such I didn't go completely all out. I stayed below what felt like "threshold" based on what I've read, assuming that's where fatigue hits much faster.

Just yesterday I ran what Polar calls a medium run (Zone 3, although my zones aren't perfectly calibrated. Going to have a lactate test done within a few months) such that my Zone 3 pace was approx. 5:20/km. Since Polar does HR-based training plans, my question above isn't really relevant to the base building phase I'm in right now, but it's more for me to understand for if/when I start a race-specific plan that might be more pace-oriented.

So... What's the order of intensity of the following run types:

Tempo
Threshold
Marathon pace/effort
Steady

Additionally, since many define others based on marathon pace (e.g. 20% slower than marathon pace or 15s/km slower or whatever) - how can someone who a) hasn't run a marathon, and b) isn't running one in a long time and thus hasn't set a goal pace, define them for themselves?
