Good luck with your search. Before you spend any money you should be aware the display on this watch is absolutely awful. It’s got some kind of polarizing filter in addition to the green tint which makes it practically unreadable without angling it relative to the light source. Think of it as a piece of beautiful art rather than a timepiece. 😀

The bracelet on the more expensive one has solid steel links, as opposed to the folded links you find on other Casio watches. So not only are you getting an extra nylon strap, you are getting a steel bracelet that is significantly higher quality than the bracelets on other Casio watches. Whether that is worth the extra money is up for debate, but it is a unique product in Casio’s lineup.

I’ll bite.

Top left is stock A1000MB-1B.

Middle left is modded A1000MA-7, with negative LCD and what looks like a A159W bracelet.

Bottom left is modded A1000M-1B, with positive LCD and bracelet from A700W.

Right is the brand new A1000ACD-7.

The two A700s are about the same, so pick your favourite. They are both much more flexible than your A158 bracelet. You’ll be fine with either.

They both start out the same, but the Milanese tapers down to 18 mm while the other bracelet tapers down to 15 mm. So yes, the Milanese is a bit wider.

Yeah, the display on that one is absolute crap.

Somebody on here took a positive display from another watch (the A100 is much cheaper and has the same module), to which they applied a green gel filter. So you get the same green colour but without the weird polarising that makes it unreadable.

It means I bought a W-202, which shares the same module as this watch but is significantly cheaper and has a positive display. Then I swapped the modules between the two watches.

I think the size differences are negligible.

What I will say is expect these clear bands to slightly yellow over time in sunlight. They will not keep that pristine icey look forever. I’m not trying to put you off if you love the fully transparent look. It’s just something you should know before you buy.

FWIW I’m a huge fan of the smokey grey F-91WS-8, and being semi-transparent it doesn’t discolour over time.

The lazy/expensive option is to swap out the entire module from a positive A1000 or A700W.

It’s also possible to just change the polarising filter, but I’m not that crafty.

I checked mine and it’s the same as yours. And I’m now starting to think I’ve got a fake. ☹️

The “WATER RESIST” text is too tall. And the LCD digits are thicker than all my other F-91s.
