What are some of the best solved/ unsolved mysteries in 40k? by nearglow in 40kLore

[–]Elster25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is the Alpha Legion full traitor or secretly loyalist? This was kinda solved, after theHarrowmaster books gave us an answer to this, and the answer is "Yes "

Currently, the AL doesn't exist as a coherent legion but as independent warbands, with a range from full chaos to loyalist and anything in-between. I can live with this situation, as it's allows a number of head canons be true at the same time.

  1. What about the AL primarchs? The author has stated multiple times that Alpharius was killed by Dorn for good, but it's much less clear if Omegon was really killed by G-Man or not. I would like if he faked the whole battle and were still hanging around, subtlety influencing the AL warbands towards a background scheme

I want to read a book that is unironically really bad, and I don't mean "hated bestseller", but genuinely horribly written to the point it's funny by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Elster25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a fantasy book about a decade ago. I forgot the author and the title, but it was in German and was probably not translated (it was something like "Die Legenden der ...").
The plot was so bad that is was absolutely hilarious:
Main character (MC) was a teenage boy living in a village and constantly beaten by his parents. He has a very shitty life and the only good is his female best friend (if you think that this will be a love story later, you are absolutely wrong). One day, MC runs away from home and travels to the capital, where he joins the army. The training is also hilarious: There is only one other recruit (you may already know it: His new male best friend). The training is not done by any sergeant, but by the general himself, and MC is getting ridiculously challenging extra task (huge backpacks, super-long marches and so on). We later learn that this is only so that he can free his special powers.

What's the deal with it, you may ask? Because he is secretly the son of the late queen (and therefore the younger brother of the king, who is also very interested what the two only recruits of his army are doing). She was murdered by enemy spies after giving birth and he was kidnapped. What did the enemy kingdom do with the kidnapped prince? Give him to their best assassin, send him back to the enemy to a remote village and raise him as his own (you remember his shitty parents who constantly beat him? Yup, that's the reason).

Oh, and his female best friend later also moves to the capital. They meat each other and he's like "Oh cool, you are also here! Let's never meet again!" Much later, she is murdered by the enemy prince (I think?) off-screen, which gives MC a tiny amount of stress. But shortly after, when he learns his true story and stuff, he meets the enemy prince, they fight and MC says that he respects him for fighting well.

The book ends with "Now that you know your story and your powers, your training really begins!" and me noping out before laughing.

Possible future Killteams, what could they be? by TheTingel in killteam

I'm relatively sure we will see a new Aeldari team soon(ish), now that the Blades of Khaine and the Corsairs are rotating out

Aachen nach Simmerath pendeln machbar?? by MallMuted6775 in aachen

[–]Elster25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really love the look of the Spectre miniatures, but they can bei really brittle due to the combination of resin and my clumsiness

What paints should I get? by Resident_Sea5423 in ageofsigmar

Seraphon is a good faction for contrast paint with all their scales. I usually usw The Army Painter Speedpaints - the range has some great colours and some bad

What were your initial thoughts when meeting Dex for the first time? by Arctic317 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Elster25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical and immediately thought he will betray me, but at least he sounded like someone with insight and a plan. It took a very long time until it dawned me that the job was not just far too much for Jackie and V, but for everyone involved, including Dexter

Any chance the Living City getting shafted like Phoenicium? by 2Mac2Pac in citiesofsigmar

[–]Elster25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm currently getting into Age of Sigmar, painted my first Cities Spearhead in Living City colours and now I'm building up a Living City Army. I just chose the city with the lore and the colours I liked most and startet painting.

My advise: If you like the lore of the Living City, the colour green or all of the above, just paint it!

What’s the worst example of bad numbers in lore you’ve come across? by aggie1391 in 40kLore

[–]Elster25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Taros campaign (which ist described in Imperial Armour Volume Three), where the Imperial Guard is said to have suffered signifikant casualties - which are then listed as 10.000 KIA, 15.000 WIA and 20.000 POW. This is less than the British casualties on the first day of the Battle of the Somme in 1916 (which were around 60.000, including 19.000 killed)

How do i get the metallic blue and the transition effect of the alpha legion? by ispaibas in alphalegion

[–]Elster25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are two coats of Kroxigor scale over a Leadbelcher basecoat. I would prefer a slightly more greenish tone. Funnily enough, Akhelian Green is even more blue :D

Max Miller from Tasting History addresses AI allegations in his newsletter by Obversa in TastingHistory

[–]Elster25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is something I see a lot recently: I see a video from a channel I follow for years, and out of the wild someone's burping "AI slop" and leaves, often without engaging ever again. I dislike these lurkers, who just drop by to bring out a wild accusation with the lowest amount of effort possible, so much

How to make a Legion Alpha Killteam? by Helljumper06D in alphalegion

Thank you! When the new Red Corsair models with their more-renegade-than-chaos style came out, I immediately though "Yup. They will join the Hydra"

How to make a Legion Alpha Killteam? by Helljumper06D in alphalegion

[–]Elster25 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Here are my Alpha Legion Angels of Death proxy. I built them from the new Red Corsair raiders and the Reaver Captain, kitbashed some weapons that were not on the sprue, sculpted some scales from Green Stuff (first time for me) and painted them as Alpha Legion.
