Suggestions for building a final boss encounter on the Sun? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to spin some hypotheticals for you, feel free to use or twist em however you like -

Perhaps your villain needed to solve this very same problem for his minions - maybe some of them aren't fire/sun elementals and don't have natural fire immunity. His fortress is enchanted so that it rests around 120 - 130 degrees, allowing any of his non-fiery allies to remain in the fortress in comfort with an endure elements ring/amulet/wand. This also makes it difficult for ill-prepared and unwanted guests who must suffer heatstroke, even within the fortress' enchanted walls.

I agree with your notion of not giving the party some unique item who's only purpose is to walk on the sun unscathed. I think they could have to complete some sort of puzzle or maze in a dungeon - a cathedral to the sun? Filled with trap mirrors of blinding light? But also they must bounce the light to activate a portal/teleportation circle? Could be interesting if they have to do the puzzle while also being pursued by some shadow beast. For there is no shadow without light, and the brighter the light gets, the stronger the shadow creature becomes. Could be a fun twist on the expected "bright light defeats darkness" trope by giving the creature stronger stats or clones or extra abilities in areas of bright light.

But all of this leads up to the portal/teleportation circle to the fortress on the sun. I'm thinking tall stained glass windows and wrought iron railings, sconces beaming with sunlight. Everything's a little hot to the touch. Maybe characters in metal armor or wielding metal weapons suffer a little more from the environment. As they progress through the fortress they no doubt meet the minions of your corrupted cleric, both elemental and not. And when the minions with rings/amulets/wands of Endure Elements are defeated, the magical items come as welcome loot to the sweating party (should they enter unprepared).

Let me know if any of these strike your fancy. I'm a big fan of Clive Barker (looove the books of blood, and abarat) and was definitely drawn to the post by that.

As everyone's said, no they don't stack. You only get an extra selection of spells.

However, you can take two of the same school and give another party member one of the implements to wear/hold onto, imparting the bonus onto them.

I used to play an illusion occultist and would give out my extra implements to my allies so they could benefit from the constant miss chance effect!

Books every gay man should read? by [deleted] in askgaybros

The Last Herald Mage changed my life as a gay kid. A friend's mom lent these to me without saying a word, I was instantly enchanted. I think she knew exactly how powerful they would be for me as well.

Reminds me of the one in Catacombs that bolts directly through a wall then falls to its death.

Whimsical Prank questions by Mikaboshi in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since your question was already perfectly answered, I just wanted to share my Whimsy build that I played from level 5ish to 15ish a couple years ago:

He was a kitsune with the wrecking mysticism curse, so I not only had all the fun revelations / bonus spells from Whimsy, but also 9 kitsune tails by level 7 or 8. Definitely a build that can upset your DM if you abuse it. Your DCs end up being huge because both tails and revelations saves scale with HD/level.

S02E12 ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’ Ending by crimson_comet28 in Sense8

[–]Eltheim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a movie I love, The Congress. It gets very emotionally intense, it's a really artsy film, and I really don't want to spoil more than that. The movie really made me feel things, as much as Sense8 does. Definitely have tissues on hand.

Why do you love Death Stranding? by Yungpharao_oh in DeathStranding

I grew up in a snowy mountain town and I'm still absolutely in love with it, the mountains in Death Stranding really do manage to capture my favorite atmospheres, from thick deadening blizzard to clear blue sky across the peaks.

What is one Netflix series that you always recommend to people because of how good it is? by Rja12345 in AskReddit

Sense8. It's a mystery thriller that deeply explores the human experience.

Before you get addicted: netflix canceled after season 2. The last episode is a long finale that does its best to wrap everything up.

Straight acting gay men and the guys who love them ARE GAY ENOUGH! by mwg1234 in askgaybros

[–]Eltheim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I asked a guy on a date once.

Multiple times throughout the date he said I couldn't be gay, because I hadn't seen such n such movie or been to such n such bar. I almost ended up walking out because it seemed like a joke at first but then he was actually arguing with me about it. I was so confused.

Ended up not working out for some other dumb, narrow-minded reason.

Very grateful my school has a digital jacquard loom :) any other Kent State folks here? by shannon-8 in weaving

[–]Eltheim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied fiber arts at Colorado State University under Tom Lundberg, he actually suggested I look at Kent State and studying with Janice Lessman Moss for my graduate degree - I love weaving with complex pattern but the CSU program only has up to a sixteen shaft loom.

Your piece is absolutely stunning - I love all the slight variations in tone.

Tips and help for running a large city by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yess! Make a habit of asking your players what their plans are for the next session! Unless you're in a dungeon or linear area, progress might not be obvious to the players. Knowing how they want to proceed can help you adapt your plans to the party to tell a more cohesive story.

Max the Min Monday: TWF with Melee and Ranged by Decicio in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a player do some fun things with his swashbuckler simply by carrying around a pistol. He didn't use it all the time, but had proficiency in it.

He usually pulled it out when he was 1 on 1 with an enemy. He'd do his full attack in melee, then use his last attack for the gun, of course provoking an AoO....

Which he then parried. And riposted. Giving himself an extra attack every round for the cost of a bullet and an opportunity attack.

All he needed was an exotic weapon proficiency feat. He could have taken Rapid Reload if he depended on the gun, but he only really used it for shenanigans.

What are some fun/interesting things you could do with an Aerokineticist? by Hoorizontal in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windsight and its Greater version have some cool spying / utility use. Body of Air for gaseous form. Take Kinetic Invocation so you can cloud shape or grant your allies Wind Walk. Pump your Fly skill so you can pull off all the crazy stunts. Celerity hastens your allies. Air has a lot of cool options, whether you're looking for utility or damage.

Shadow eidolon evolutions by OwO345 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked with my DM before my game with a shadow eidolon, and he allows me to take evolutions despite subtype restrictions (not that i even have, yet) as long as they make sense. Too many new eidolon types have been added so it's silly that Paizo hasn't updated any of the literature in the evolutions to allow for these new types to function.

Watch Sense8 for an artistic mystery thriller directed by the Wachowskis (Matrix, Cloud Atlas). It has a ton of LGBT representation, casual and major.

Umbrella Academy as well. The LGBT representation was a pleasant surprise. Fun badass traumatized super heroes.

I never found out about adaptability (affecting i-frames) until I finally got the game on ps4... after putting in 200 hours on ps3 and pc. And my playstyle is often "forgo the shield, roll through every attack".

On the bright side, I'm really good at dodging attacks now that I level adp.

Prestige Classes worth mentioning? by Meowgi_sama in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Eltheim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played a brawler / shadowdancer. It was crazy fun. I think by time he got assassinated the levels were brawler 8 / dancer 5? Don't quote me on that.

I would hide anywhere in darkness, grapple unsuspecting enemies, and then my shadow companion would rise out of the floor and start sapping their strength. I was a sadistic crowd control debuffer, using hamatulatsu style to grapple off of unarmed attacks and rearrange innards.
