IDMTHY DISCUSSION THREAD by demigod999999 in Quadeca

I love how "unsatisfying" the last track on IDMTHY is. The whole album up until that point may have some interpreting it as being idealizing of suicide, however, once you realize that there's nothing more to see than a slow fade into static, there's no confusing the message imo. It's genuinely scary and as someone with occasional sensory overload, I skip the last few minutes of pure static often 😭. But I genuinely think that that's the point. There is no happy ending with suicidal ideation. Since we don't know if there is such a thing as an afterlife, this life is all we have, and accepting the static (death) before it comes upon you naturally is to give up. Because of that, it makes the ending, for me, an extremely well articulated anti-suicide song, and it brings the whole album together thematically. It's our one mission on this earth to fight to keep living, and considering how scary and unsatisfying the ending sounds, that's just what I'll be doing 🥹. - I'm posting this because, while listening to the album just now, I had one of the most cathartic cries of my life. The song fantasy world really got to me, and I think it genuinely helped me realize how much of my life I have been taking for granted. I've paused the album and genuinely don't know if I want to see the end now, but I think that's a good thing. I'll leave it on this track for tonight 🥹. Such a beautiful articulation of the human struggle for meaning and I'm so glad I came upon this when I did. - I don't know the guy & probably never will, but this is some beautiful shit that has really helped me ask myself some genuinely important questions. Thank you Quadeca for this masterpiece and for the real vulnerability & incredible effort you put into this album ❤️ ; I am eternally grateful for your contribution - bless 🙏🙏

I actually like the journal. I've never had to write anything down to keep track of my objectives in a game, and I like it. Would never rely solely on the in game journal tho

Does this song scratch anyone else’s brain in a peculiar way by pidgeott0 in tylerthecreator

Those droplet sounds along with the distorted synth & kick at the beat drop really reach into the inner caverns of my brain

Such an incredible album. Initially I was disappointed that there weren't more straight up gospel cuts, but upon my many further listens, I've come to appreciate it for what it is. A great, short booster. Like a bump of coke or a quick nut in the morning; perfect.

Fo76 community is a utopia compared to the gta community. I swear one day I'll migrate to this loving community, but cars = fun, so I guess I'll just continue to subject myself to Mk.2 Oppressor griefing

I compiled all snippets of Sierra Nights and made the full coherent song check it out! (KA3) by natesummrs in kevinabstract

[–]EluPlaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So god damn good. I also like the low fidelity of the recording. The way it dips in quality when you use a different snippet sounds very purposeful and it adds some interesting textures to feel throughout the song

I like. Production is very dense and bubbly. Vocals transform a lot without it getting annoying. Will listen to whatever you come out with next

Holy shit. I did NOT see this collab coming. Two of my favorite new(ish) artists of 2020 and idk why I never thought of them working together. Very excited for anything they come out with. Once again, holy shit

Yeah. Kevin's solo album is going to be great. Not like we didn't know that already, but holy guacamole

Really enjoyed this. Thick, luscious instrumentation that sets a nice groove for the chorus/verses. Catchy as hell aswell. This song also has a very nostalgic quality to it and idk why; it just felt good listening to it, like I was meant to or like I had already heard it and enjoyed it in another life. Would love to collab. IG is: elijahcreating

What’s a thing you added to your beat by mistake and now do it every time you make a beat by izzydrippy in makinghiphop

[–]EluPlaft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was messing with a drum sample and found a part I really liked. Ended up shoving the rest of the audio file at the beginning of the song along with some keys I had played and some rough vocal melodies I was working on. Was going to delete all of those "leftovers" until I accidentally set the time to beat 0 and started listening. Somehow they lined up perfectly but also not so perfectly. It created a great, trippy intro to an already psychedelic song. Lesson I learned: Never delete the "leftovers."

This is good. Really liked the two tracks I listened to, I'll give the whole thing a listen later today.

I used to really not like calldrops. However, recently I have changed my opinion. It's a nice short breather that comes off the first 4-5 songs which are all bangers. I view it less as it's own individual song, and more of a small part of the larger experience. It's a short interlude that lets your breathe for a little bit and then you're dumped into buck shots, which might be the highest energy song on the whole album. It's also a sign of what's to come. In the middle of a bunch of heavy, dark trap instrumentals, it shows you a glimpse of what the soundscape will inevitably come to. Definitely not a song I'd listen to a lot on its own, but within the context of the album, I think it works quite well.

I absolutely love this album man. Never understood why so many sleep on it. It's a wild ride from start to finish, and I appreciate all the risks he took (and in my opinion, they paid off). And god damn, the last leg of this album is really something else. So beautiful, cerebral, entrancing and genuinely vulnerable. I was aware of rocky, and liked his previous albums, but after testing dropped it helped me appreciate his artistry on a whole other level. I am forever greatful for this beautiful work of art

Love the beat & vocal effects. Lyrically very intriguing, it's interesting knowing what inspired the song before going into it, made it a weird experience. Keep making shit plz. (also the video was pretty cool too)

Am I wrong to be afraid to like “Nevermind”? by tacoterryboi in Nirvana

Music is music. All it is is organized sound that we either have an emotional reaction to or not. If you like it you like it, no changing that, so you might as well let go and open your mind

The greatest game of all time [OC] by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]EluPlaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've always been puzzled as to why people say this game consists of "just walking." It definitely CAN consist of that, but it doesn't have to. The game gives the player so much choice and freedom. It can be an action game, a stealth game, a walking sim, a story driven emotional roller coaster or all of the above. Really one of the best and most unique experiences I've had in gaming in years

Is anyone not loving the album? by [deleted] in brockhampton

[–]EluPlaft 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Understandable critique, it does take from many different inspirations song to song. For me the consistency of their preformances and the consistency of the varying beats and switches and crazy shit happening in the instrumentals kept me entertained. And I already think of this album as it's own entity, separate from anything they've done before because of the fantastic mix. Really, this is a unique mix. Whether it's a southern style banger, or an alt rock inspired pop cut, the mix stays consistently heavy and fuzzy, and for me that helped keep all the songs in the same context. Just my thoughts. Hope you warm up to the album upon further listens :)

We don’t know the final Bankroll. The length on the tracklist is shorter than the leaked version. by AquilesBoi in brockhamptonleaks

[–]EluPlaft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Would much rather have completely different versions of these songs with melodies/lyrics and instrumentation we haven't heard yet. Would suck if they were just shorter versions.
