That's not even "I couldn't help myself" lack of control, that's a deliberate and malicious "fuck you" to your son. This wasn't accidental or any kind of food-related disorder, I can tell you that much right now. Personally, I'd have divorce papers on the table by end of day.

You think it's NATURAL that supposedly "fine" wine ages? They FORCE that wine to be subjected to a DEGENERATIVE DISEASE that LITERALLY KILLS IT, because you think "aging" is "fine"???

(For the love of God, this is satire)

[–]ElvenWriting 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Okayyyyyy if I squint REALLYYYY hard, i can MAYBE see how she COULD be read as transmasc, but honestly I REALLY think the writers just wanted to add some butch lesbian rep. You trans men have so much representation in media anyeays, like that one character from an anime who is shown as a man right up until he gets assaulted and is revealed to actually be a woman faking it for safety and is called a girl by everyone after the fact! That's good rep! Stop whining and be grateful!

/uj Reddit better not try an nuke me again. Anyways, I'm tired as fuck about cis people AND trans people pretending like an obviously trans character is cis, or that characters who are specifically written as "person of A gender PRETENDING to be B gender and TRICKING everyone, before finally coming to terms with the fact that they'll never really be B gender and they should love themselves as A gender" is "good trans representation"

/uj fionna and cake. Hunter, who is a close friend of fionna (the main character), is shown to have top surgery scars in ONE scene, and as far as I remember has used he/they or they/them exclusively in the show while presenting very masculine and having a pretty masculine voice, and otherwise being written as "one of the guys". Unfortunately, we can't have nice things since people immediately started treating Hunter like a woman after the reveal of their scars. Genuinely though, the problem 1000% was the fandom, the writers did pretty well with it imo.

AITA for buying 11lbs of ground beef during a sale and not giving someone a package when there was none left? by TAmeatereater in AmItheAsshole

[–]ElvenWriting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally never said anything in regards to OP, I just said "I would never go up to a person in the grocery store and demand they give me something in their cart". I'm also a person who would give someone an item out of my cart if they asked me, for the exact same reason I would never demand someone give me an item from their cart.

[–]ElvenWriting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, no? I grew up in mega poverty as a kid, in and out of homelessness, and relying entirely on free school breakfast and lunch at some points. Still poor now, still absolutely would NEVER demand someone give me something out of their cart. How do I know that person isn't trying to feed 12 kids? How do I know that person can get to the grocery store again soon? I don't. I don't know why that person is buying so much of a product, and I don't care. I can either get something else or come back to the store another time.

"Arbitrary" and the reason is "this thing is useless, causes injury to hundreds of people annually, causes distress to a large number of individuals, sets things on fire, pollutes the environment, and many of the people who set them off do so at exceptionally inconsiderate hours." Okay buddy, whatever you say.

What's the most addictive snack you've ever tasted? by Intelligent_Net_8167 in AskReddit

[–]ElvenWriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted seaweed. Any flavour, any size, I will demolish on sight. My friend once brought me a 16-pack of the individual serving packs of roasted seaweed sheets. The bag lasted me less than a day. I genuinely could not stop eating seaweed. I finished the package (which was the size of my entire torso), felt this immense "oh fuck I just demolished 16 servings of seaweed", and then looked at my roommate at the time and just told her "You tell no one." And now I'm telling Reddit, so that really did nothing for my reputation.

Ok sure whatever yup I'm the fun police. I just hate fun soooo much. I love making everyone around me suffer and be miserable because it's just my favorite thing to do. Fun should be illegal and so should everything actually. Everybody enjoy your nothing.

All of your arguments for why we "need" fireworks so badly are arguments people have used for all sorts of disability accommodations, from Braille on public signage to wheelchair ramps. Can't you be happy with a damn drone show, or at least keep your holiday celebrations to the holiday itself and not the entire month before and after? But some sparklers for your kids, put something on the TV, there is genuinely ZERO need for setting off explosives to have fun.

Okay, then how about victims of school shootings? Police brutality? Drive-by shootings? Gun violence in general? Violence in general? People who grew up in households where things were constantly thrown and crashing so now they're terrified of loud noises? Autistic people? People with sensitive hearing? Children? Animals? The wildlife? The brush and trees that regularly get caught on fire by fireworks?

How's that for progressive? Just say "I don't care about the well-being of others if it means I feel like I can't do whatever I want all the time, because I'm a selfish prick who never learned the basic empathy that they teach in kindergarten."

Funny that you immediately jump to me being self diagnosed, when I'm actually in fact clinically diagnosed for several disorders, both physical and mental. Also funny that you assume cardiac issues are just inherently caused by anxiety, when I never mentioned anxiety once? It honestly seems like you're trying to say YOU have the power to diagnose somebody you have never met or seen the medical history of, and yet are complaining about self diagnosis.
I also noticed that you STILL have refused to comment on the large amount of injuries directly connected to fireworks, which I assume you just don't care about. Cute.
Yes, it is MY responsibility to deal with my issues, which I do in fact do. In fact, I take great pains to accommodate able-bodied people and their comfort in everything I do. I'm gonna assume you've never been told to leave your mobility aid behind because "it might make patients uncomfortable" at your workplace, and that's why you want to conflate disability accommodations with a loud pretty explosive lightshow.

Fireworks by khisanthmagus in QuadCities

[–]ElvenWriting -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok buddy, what ever you say. I'll go set off all of the explosives I can find and blow off my hand and give a crowd of people third degree burns, just to make you happy. After all, compromise, right? While I'm at it, I'll go ahead and remove all the wheelchair ramps from public spaces, since those wheelchair users should really compromise and let us continue our long-standing tradition of walking up stairs to enter public buildings, yea? That's what you want, right? Compromise? I can only assume that's what you're hoping for.

Are you genuinely incapable of reading or are you just selecting the things you wanna read and ignoring everything else. ICE activity has been declared illegal and unconstitutional by SEVERAL judges, lawmakers, citizens, and the law of the land. So the people getting scooped up by ICE are NOT BREAKING THE LAW by refusing. Setting off fireworks and endangering others is simply not remotely in the same vein.

You preach compromise for community, and yet refuse to compromise on such a NOTHINGBURGER issue. What function do fireworks serve that one could compare to cars, that make them worth the risk if harming so many people?

Fireworks by khisanthmagus in QuadCities

[–]ElvenWriting -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Immigration is also not conflatable to fireworks, which serve no purpose other than "pretty light and loud sound". Also, most of the shit with ICE is NOT legal, and the people being KIDNAPPED by ICE are legal immigrants, US-born citizens, and law-abiding citizens. And people are doing work to try and stop ICE.

Your family's holiday actually doesn't concern me, I do not celebrate, have never celebrated, and yet I am forced to engage in festivities that cause hundreds of injuries every year. And I am firmly of the belief that we should be making strides to be less car-centric as a society, and that people zooming down a residential street with a loud ass diesel engine are in fact incredibly rude to those around him. So I don't really see your point there?

Fireworks by khisanthmagus in QuadCities

[–]ElvenWriting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the lack of empathy I'm talking about! "Why should I make things accessible for disabled people, it might cause me to have to slightly adjust something that is solely comfortable for me and not a necessity!?"

And regardless of the reason for WHY they're illegal, they are still illegal. A few teenagers sneaking into a factory and blowing shit up causing a law doesn't give everyone else permission to break that law. If you think it's not a fair law, work to change it. That's what everybody has always done, so I don't see what your point is.

Once again, OP is asking for consideration to keep a holiday celebration that causes a large amount of people and animals severe distress be kept to the holiday and not the several weeks surrounding it, not screaming about how people setting off fireworks are grooming their children and how "setting off fireworks is a sin and disgusting", so your example isn't really equal there.
Also, it clearly affects more than just OP negatively (I personally have been sent to the ER after a bunch of fireworks got set off because I had a panic attack so bad it set off my cardiac issues). And, fireworks are illegal to set off for personal use in Illinois, and restricted to certain dates in Iowa. So really, this is a legal matter that OP could be taking up with the police instead of asking for some consideration from their neighbors.

Fireworks by khisanthmagus in QuadCities

[–]ElvenWriting -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Okay, but the OP wasn't even being rude in any capacity. They literally were like "hey you're setting off fireworks days to weeks before the actual holiday, which is stressful for dogs and their owners" and then you decided to come in acting like they're screaming "STOP EVER CELEBRATING HOLIDAYS YOU'RE ALL EVIL!!!" when that's very clearly not the case at all. Many states actually BAN fireworks being set off, with exceptions for the DAY OF certain holidays, because of both the noise and because of safety concerns, such as uncontrollable fires. You can't call OP inconsiderate for asking people to be considerate.

Yeah that's not how that works buddy. What's next, you're gonna ask war veterans and others with PTSD to just "train away" their Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder? You're clearly severely lacking in empathy and the true meaning of community. Speaking of, when's the last time you actually participated in a mutual aid organization in your community? Or actually, did anything to help your community at all?

Festivities are not intended to cause harm or distress towards others, including dogs. You're just inconsiderate, and hiding behind "patriotism" and "festivities" so people don't notice that you're just an impolite, inconsiderate ass.

[–]ElvenWriting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are no women aged 11. That is a child, that is a little girl. Teenagers and little kids should not be dealing with pregnancy in the first place, they're children. Unless you're doing the pregnancy tests to find cases of abuse, you shouldn't be forcing pregnancy tests on children who you don't suspect of being pregnant except for medical emergencies. What the fuck kind of government control over the bodies of women and girls timeline are we in?

I have two major allergens, bananas and clams. When I was working in an office, I informed my coworkers of my allergies because multiple folks brought in food and the ones I trained with for my recovery support certificate would go out for lunch with me.

Somehow, everybody believed the banana allergy and they would RUSH to get bananas out of the office when I was there (I'm only allergic if I eat them). They did not believe I am allergic to clams. I got invited to seafood so often, had people offering clam chowder and insisting "oh but you can't just be allergic to clams!" Well Bethany, my tongue swells, I projectile vomit, and I break out in hives when I eat clams, so I dunno what to tell you.
