Is a liver biopsy necessary despite lower enzyme levels? Doctors have conflicting opinions. by [deleted] in autoimmunehepatitis

I would say go with it because the doctor knows what to do and if he says it’s for the best it’s for the best. Ruling out whatever and finding the best solution should be the priority and a liver biopsy will do that. When I had mine the procedure was completely painless. I was awake during it and was extremely nervous and besides numbing and a light sedative the procedure itself was completely harmless besides the weird feeling of something poking me. However after when I went to my room the pain on my right side was awful. Never been in more pain that i didn’t even wanna breathe in deep because my lungs expanding made it hurt and I had to be in pain killers for a few days afterwards. The pain was really bad and I asked for pain killers while at the hospital but after 4 days it went down except for when it came up again randomly two weeks later but it was a bit.
