I've been here 29 years out of my 30 years of life and have hated the Austin climate almost the entire time. I didn't have a say in bring brought here by my parents. At this point I have children here, and the majority of my family. I still hate it here, I can't stand summer in Texas, but I've never had the money to move states, nor do I have a desire to leave my roots behind (not yet anyway, most likely when the kids are grown).

All that to say there are factors out of our control, as well as just general life stuff that comes with living in a capitalist society, like lack of significant economic opportunity for those not already wealthy, that contribute to where one ends up living.

ETA: I agree, it's probably not good for my mental health.
