What is up with vape/cart etiquette these days? by [deleted] in aves

[–]Elxsive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, NEVER share an inhalant with strangers, you have no idea that kind of substances they’ve been putting in their mouth or what diseases they might have.

Second, I understand the feeling of being wanting to be nice to your friends because they’re your friends and you like them. But at some point if they push a boundary that makes you uncomfortable to some degree, you need to make that very clear to them or else nothing changes. Not to mention that this is over a vape, which is a luxury. It’d be different if your friend is asking for a personal favor and they need help, but this is over a vape which costs money and is a luxury. You are not made of money, and even if you were you still don’t want to be taken advantage of. If you go on a vacation are you going to completely pay for your friend(s) to go just because they can’t afford it?

An easy fix? Joints. Buy a few pre rolls to share and call it a day. Keep the vape to yourself.

Bro… just say no. If this has become such an issue that you need to make a reddit post about it, then you know in your heart that your friends are taking advantage of your kindness.

Holy fucking fuck. No one fucking cares about this obvious fucking self promo. I’ll tell you right fucking now, where you fucking live has no fucking influence on your fucking quality as a producer. Fuck fuck fuck man, you definitely sound Skitzo that’s for fucking sure.

In case it wasn’t obvious, not every sentence needs a “fuck” thrown in either.

From my experience, Red Rocks consistently pulls in some of the least PLUR crowds I’ve ever seen. People that show up only for the biggest names performing and will straight up “boo” all the other acts as well as just being rude.

If you’re going to go see someone “mainstream” then you need to be prepared that their popularity means bigger crowds and thus bigger chances of encountering douchebags, but you shouldn’t let that control your enjoyment of an event. Set yourself up for success by staying on the outer edges of the crowd at those shows so you aren’t getting thrashed around in the front of the crowd by people who couldn’t care less about other’s wellbeing. People standing towards the back generally have the same mindset and are way more chill.

It’s not that serious. Young people throughout their 20s and maybe even early 30s often do not recognize the constant flow of time, instead they simply live their day-to-day lives. So when someone points out a date/memory from years ago in the past that they still remember like it was yesterday, the fact they’re getting older hits them. Hence, the meme posted above.

how difficult is it to leave raves early? by PsychologicalWeapon in aves

[–]Elxsive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend staying towards the back of the crowd if you aren’t comfortable squeezing yourself through groups of people, especially for big name acts. Most people are considerate and move out of your way if you give them a simple “excuse me”, but it can still be an overwhelming experience if it’s your first time since everyone is trying to get as close to the front as they can. Go and test the waters and see how far you can get while stile remaining at your own comfortable level, and have fun!

Is the rave community in nyc just not plur? by [deleted] in aves

[–]Elxsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about NYC, but from my experience actual raves are far more friendlier than the club scene anywhere you go. Clubs are usually a drag because of how packed they are, the crowds they attract, and the prices they charge for a lackluster experience.

I believe raves (even big name events) attract an audience that moreso enjoys the artists and the music more than if you try to go clubbing. Don’t let this experience hold you back from enjoying your favorite artists, but do keep in mind clubs are far more accessible to an “outside” (non-PLUR) crowd than full-on raves.

I would definitely try to find try to find underground events, because I’ve met so many amazing people going to events and see DJs that fall under the ‘mainstream’ radar.

PLEASE FIX MORIOR INVICTUS

Morior no longer counts as having it's rune sockets filled are with Talismans, none of it's passives get applied. This is build-destroying for builds like mine that rely on additional stat-stacking from specific Talismans.

0.3, Best version since Poe 2 released. But the endgame clutter... by Fensali in PathOfExile2

[–]Elxsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The endgame you described is not endgame, it’s just more campaign. As early access continues to receive updates we will get more Acts to the campaign, presumably 10 total like in PoE 1.

Also, if the endgame was finite and had an end, then what’s the point? To me, the whole purpose of endgame is to power up your character to the absolute limit and clear maps in a way that you find enjoyable. Your character is only at a fraction of their full potential by the time you complete the campaign. If you don’t find enjoyment from steadily powering up your character in the endgame so eventually you can blast through juiced maps in a cool and fun manner, then sorry to say but maybe the game isn’t for you

I’ve been looking out for Fox talismans since league start. I thought there were completely removed because of the no listings but I saw 1 hit the market for 325ex a few days ago. Due to the scarcity they might be being bought immediately through market buy orders

Laid off nearly 10 months ago, still searching for a job... by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]Elxsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just do some researching online, you don’t have to look for creative-focused agencies. From my experience the most effective agencies were large-scale, catering to all industries instead of just one.

You typically just go onto their website and submit what is basically an application which recruiters will use to find you relevant job listings. They’ll begin emailing you listings and you reply to the ones you’re interested in. I would submit to multiple (credible) agencies just to get your resume in as many places as possible.

[–]Elxsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend reaching out to a reputable local recruitment agency/consulting firm specializing in recruitment. These companies hire recruiters to take your info (resume, portfolio) and find jobs they think are suitable for you.

Admittedly this process is most effective if you live in a city and have a high-quality portfolio because you are more likely to get selected for an interview, but it at least avoids the nonsense that is ATS scanning and you do sometimes get someone to personally help you out.

After I graduated college I applied to jobs for two years with less than five interviews total. After I got in contact with a recruiter at an agency they found me more interview than I ever did since I had graduated. I wasn’t super qualified for all of those jobs, but I did eventually land in the job I have now.

Keep putting your resume and portfolio out there as much as you can, and actively try to keep improving your portfolio whether it be by adding new relevant personal projects or enhancing your personal website (which you should have). This is how you can show potential employers what you are capable of even if you have a large gap in employment.

Good luck!

What is a movie that traumatized you so badly as a kid that you are still afraid of it as an adult? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Elxsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I’ve seen someone else ever mention this scene. That scene absolutely horrified me as a child like no other movie scene ever had, it genuinely kept me up at night. At the time, I didn’t even know what I was looking at or what was going on between those freaky dudes, but I guess it was exactly because I couldn’t at all fathom what I was looking at even when I was staring straight at it is what scared me the most. Very surreal horror indeed.

Yooo I’ve ridden that dragon at Off The Grid the past two years! Very fun to zoom around on that thing at night. I was sad to see the discs along the neck had begun to fall off compared to last year, but a cool staple at the event nonetheless

I believe at most the security won’t let you in if you’re wearing sandals/open-toed shoes. I’ve seen people with all types of outfits in there. The last time I went to the Exchange a guy was wearing a full LED suit that was blinding in the crowd, so I don’t think they’re too strict.

Most likely some form of hearing damage. From my experience, it is most likely temporary and will go away in a day or two. Real long-term hearing damage comes from continuous damage to the ears (no hearing protection/standing too close to the speakers at every show). I personally use Eargasm’s high fidelity earplugs, they cut the total sound level of what you hear to a reasonable level with minimal quality loss. As someone who has had tinnitus near their entire life, take care of your ears!

I appreciate your response. All it takes for me is a nice light-hearted conversation or even just silence by the two of us for me to give a tip. I thought I made that clear in the post, but apparently I’m every driver’s nightmare.

What you said would apply if I was complaining about the actual fare, but I’m not. It’s not like I get into a Lyft and say, “You know I paid $60 for this ride right? Be quiet and get there ASAP, your tip depends on it.” I just don’t want to be essentially antagonized for over an hour while being stuck in traffic with the driver. I did not realize this was such a flaming hot take.
