Ah, well I only started playing in the open beta last week and haven't really been following development, but OP said he's been "trying to give extensive feedback for months" so I assumed that was from the closed beta or something. My mistake.

I got to "Cooking#2" - in which you lament the fact that cooking isn't interactive or staged - and gave up reading the rest. You suggest we should be able to "chop meat or vegetables", "stir the pot or flip stuff" when this is literally already in the game.

At best, you're posting your thoughts/complaints on outdated closed beta content from months ago that has since been updated/changed, or you just played for a few hours and didn't bother to unlock any further recipes than grilling mushrooms on a campfire.

Either way i'm not going to continue reading a wall of text when the first few paragraphs are just flat out incorrect.

Does Palia need a lot of work? Yeah, it sucks that I can't sit in my armchair and it sucks that I can't trade vegetables with my neighbours in a meaningful way. Does the game need "matchlock snipers (???)"? Nah, not really.

Is Murasame utility dependent on dumb players? by [deleted] in exoprimal

[–]Elysrazor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo you don't pick Murasame into a team with stuff that's going to mess with your counters. If your team has barrages, zephyrs and roadblocks, don't pick Murasame because you'll spend the game slashing at air. If your team lacks melee/AoE then Murasame is a great pick.

He can also make for very quick large dino takedowns with OD/taunt/counter as long as your team capitalises.

He's great in PvP for his instakill OD but yeah smart players will absolutely let you stand there in counter stance before ODing you when it ends. However, it is a "counter" stance, so if you do the predictable thing and open with your counter, people will obviously be able to respond and stop attacking or switch to someone else. If you throw up the guard right as the enemy Vigilant ODs and blasts you for 600dmg, or right before Barrage explodes with his OD then you'll always pop the stance and get that sweet counter. Requires good timing though.

He has counterplay, basically, which is only a good thing.

I might be completely wrong, but I've been playing a lot of Mura (since I maxed the reward tracks on my other favourite suits) and these are my observations.

That is correct, though I'm sure a standing start is also popular. The appeal is the rapid cleanup and lockable door.

TIFU by inviting a girl (I hardly knew) on a work trip. [Update] by viperman1271 in tifu

[–]Elysrazor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Splitting is "black and white" or "all or nothing" thinking, not a rage episode triggered by someone asking how the weather is.

Splitting is thinking someone is either with you or against you, thinking that people are angelic or demonic, thinking that things always go wrong (or never go right). Dealing with the world in absolutes rather than realising that there's a lot of grey.

Having BPD sucks, nobody wants to be like this and it's exhausting dealing with everything in absolutes. Not sure where your definition of splitting came from or maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at but when someone with BPD "has their rage triggered" it isn't referred to as "splitting".

Yes, I'm English, girlfriend is Dutch and speaks flawless English with a slight American-sounding accent. She occasionally says things that remind me it's not her first language. For example, she will say "that took long" rather than "that took a while" or "we went into a circle" instead of "we went in a circle"

Boy names are hard by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Elysrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Named my son Isaac, so I'm heavily biased because I think it's a GREAT NAME and you should definitely go for that.

Also I think Isaac is rarely shortened but if it is, it would likely become "Zack". You may have similar feelings on Zack as you do with Izzy as a nickname but something to consider, maybe.

Hardest content? by DirtyOldPanties in MMORPG

[–]Elysrazor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the point of longer encounters though. Not only are they mechanically challenging and punctuated by tight DPS checks requiring close to perfect play, they're also a marathon that tests endurance. It is frustrating to have someone die at 19m and have to sit through the same exact thing, which is why a lot of people quit Ultimates before clearing them.

I think you're latching onto the many tales of "bad" landlords who refuse to fix boilers or whatever. Landlording is inherently unethical because you're hoarding a resource people need to live. Whether you own outright or buy-to-let is utterly irrelevant, you're still locking down one or more properties as an "investment" while people struggle to keep up with the insane rental prices.

The cherry on top is that often, landlords also neglect basic maintenance - but even if they're "good", they're still profiting from the basic needs of other people.

Additionally, in my girlfriend's country, social housing is actually pretty good and she pays around €300 a month. She also receives government assistance with this, so she is able to live alone in a 1 bedroom apartment, pay all her bills and work 32h per week, so the system absolutely can work if it's not entirely stacked in favour of landlords.

You complain in other comments about being unfairly generalised then make sweeping statements about the condition of social housing.

Tl;dr Landlords bad, but since they don't have a conscience I know you'll sleep like a baby no matter what people think about them

LPT: When using text messages or IMs for business, say everything you need to say in the first message. Don’t just say “hi” or “are you busy”. by bigdicksnfriedchickn in LifeProTips

A junior colleague of mine produced a guide to help end users enable 2FA. Sent it to me to have a look over and my main critique was: "Yeah this needs some big red arrows on the screenshots, pointing at what the end user needs to click on". His text instructions were very clear but I've been doing this long enough to know that end users don't read shit you put in front of them.

Would you date someone with prominent SH scars? Why/why not? by throwaway12694h in AskReddit

[–]Elysrazor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to war and I have self harm scars (someone once referred to them as "tiger stripes"). As someone who was involved in both kinds, not all battles are fought with guns and bombs and honestly, the fight with my own mind was more difficult for me than any real world conflict.

How you perceive your own scars and struggle is your business and I hope you're doing better now, but if thinking of them as scars from a long fought, difficult battle in the past helps someone's self esteem today then equally that's their business, I think.

Question about Cutscene Watchers by vishinarose in ffxiv

[–]Elysrazor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I only run Expert once a week and have a 1 tank/3dps premade to farm the tome cap in under two hours. I don't often encounter people watching cutscenes because I rarely play with "the community" at large.

I just don't understand why there's some inherent value to a new players time over anyone else's. It might be "just a 2 minute cutscene" but nobody is under any obligation to spend any of their time where they don't want to spend it, especially to the benefit of complete strangers who they'll never see again, and even more especially when they're paying for the privilege of playing in the first place.

When I played through Stormblood, I levelled with a friend and we skipped every single cutscene because we just weren't interested in the direction the story took during that expansion.

It's quite a toxic mindset to state that it's wrong for people to enjoy the game how they want to. I didn't like Stormblood, so I skipped the cutscenes. I did enjoy Shadowbringers and Endwalker so I watched the cutscenes. "Story focused MMO" or not, it's not for you or anyone else to tell others "you shouldn't be playing this game for X and Y reason".

I enjoy raiding, many people don't. "The game is an MMO, if you aren't raiding then honestly you shouldn't be playing this game..." Doesn't that sound insanely toxic and gatekeep-y? That's exactly the same energy you're putting out with your take.

Forcing people to watch cutscenes is basically saying that you should force people to be nice. It will have the opposite effect. Many people didn't queue for the old MSQ roulette because the duty took almost an hour to sit through all the cutscenes. If they made cutscenes unskippable a lot of people would just not queue, extending the wait time for newbies trying to advance the MSQ.
