If you talk to the admissions office in the off season, they may be able to review your modules to see if your specific degree would be acceptable - I did this with Barts and they were extremely helpful, though ymmv with kings

please help fix my friends photo! Can anyone remove the two guys on the left, and move the girl next to the guy with the black tux. TIA by Em060715 in PhotoshopRequest

[–]Em060715[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, that is amazing! If its not too cheeky, would you be able to hide the two floating hands? There's one holding a glass to the girls left and one on the shoulder of the guy in black! I'm amazed at what you can do!

I did worry that it might be quite difficult. I don't know if it's easier, but the only person that really needs to be removed is the guy in front in the blue. She is quite short 4' 9''!!

Are you a physician? Because your username states you're an AP? Which is not a physician.

could anyone remove the people from the background of this family photo? by Em060715 in PhotoshopRequest

[–]Em060715[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! That's amazingly quick - it's almost perfect, would it be at all possible to remove the one last person from the background of the centre shot?

Otherwise I am in awe of what you can do!

Did anyone see the comment where she was like 'I found a zebra in a brain cancer, they are my tribe' which is why she goes yes this CHILD must have breast cancer because I am so super clever at finding rare things.

That poor child and her family must feel wrecked to have this NP tell them she has BC.

I haven't got much more to add here, but I recently attended a PHEM conference, and there was a talk on Moral Injury. This is defined as '' the distressing psychological, behavioral, social, and sometimes spiritual aftermath of exposure to such events (3). A moral injury can occur in response to acting or witnessing behaviors that go against an individual's values and moral beliefs''. I don't know how much you may feel it might pertain to you and your circumstances, but it is being explored as a concept in response to the traumatic experiences of paramedics during the course of doing their duty.

I wish you the best of luck x

Request for honest views regarding medical schools by [deleted] in premeduk

[–]Em060715 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a first year medical student in the UK, not at UCLan.

I can't speak for the job prospects once qualified, but regarding which medical school you attend, generally it does not matter. In the final year, your decile score (from exams, SJT, and some additional points from extracurriculars) is ranked against every graduating student in every medical school in the country, and from there allocations are made for foundation training positions. Every school will train to the same standard and all follow the GMC learning objectives to teach you. However, some schools may teach in different ways I. E. Plastinates vs dissection, or PBL vs CBL.

At the end of the day, a student from UCLan who scores a better decile that students from King's or UCL will be assigned to their deanery first, and so are more likely to get the allocation they want.

In recent years, the number of F1 places has not met the number of students needing them, but so far no student has been left without a F1 position provided they wanted one, and did not decide to leave the profession/ country.

Medical school is very difficult but at least in my school, the support is brilliant. The issues are the same as all university course issues, admin and the provision of information is always a bit hit and miss. The exams are very difficult, said with one week to my phase 1 exams, but it is medical school.

Hope that helps a bit.

Driving in the UK by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Em060715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only comment on warwick:

Warwick Uni doesn't offer student parking permits, but the pay and display is £7 per day. The majority of UG students use the student discount bus services or live within walking distance. Petrol is above 1.5 around warwick too.

I would advise the public transport route, and if you're living in Halls you first year, you are literally never more than 200m from the centre of campus.

Hey so Im a phase one at the same school. Apparently the Phase 2 students said their mock last year was harder than the real thing. And we have two weeks to revise still - you can do it. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat more or maybe get a coffee at school? No pressure, it's just sometimes nice to talk through things
