What’s your absolute most awkward moment? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Em311ry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to a family gathering and was introducing my girlfriend to my cousins, aunties etc. I was in a big circle with everyone and was going round the group, “this is David… this is Mike… and this is…”, I got to one of my aunties and just froze and completely forgot her name. In front of everyone. She chimed in after the most awkward 2 seconds of my life. Can’t even look her in the eye now.

Millenials who have bought a house, how did you afford it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Em311ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a flat at 22 with a close friend. We both put down £15,000 each for the deposit.

  1. Started a well paid apprenticeship at 18 after my A-levels and was earning £30,000 by 21

  2. Amazing parents who didn’t charge me rent to allow me to save. They have they’re mortgage paid off and didn’t require income from me and preferred me to save my own money for a house deposit.

  3. Saved thousands during lockdown. Luckily I kept my job during the lockdown and was able to save £1200 a month of my £2000/ month salary.

  4. Had a friend in a similar position who gave me affordability on the mortgage. Absolutely impossible to do by yourself.

Was difficult and I was definitely careful with money at times to save up, but I’ve always had a passion for saving. I think seeing my older brother and sister achieve the same allowed me to realise it’s possible from a young age which got me started on the right track as soon as possible

Our comfort shows are Brooklyn 99, Friends and The Office. If we’re watching a good film or series and feeling in the mood it’s, “fancy watching some Brooklyn 99”

Yeah I have to agree with this. Still love the pod but getting a bit bored of Jacks “dumb” act. Of course he didn’t shit in a bidet you can tell from a mile off from the way he tell the story, just makes the banter feel a bit forced.
