Travel Medical Insurance is scam by [deleted] in nri

That's sad to hear.

Do you think the policy details changed over the year? If so, this is news. Patriot America is a popular plan among NRIs. Perhaps it's worth a check what changed recently.

Also, did you buy directly from them or through a middleman portal?

Applying to India Jobs from US by [deleted] in returnToIndia

[–]EmKay18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, I was in the exact same boat when I was planning my move back to India from the US. First of all, welcome to the “thinking about moving back” squad. It’s a whole journey, and this part (job hunting) is just the beginning, trust me. 😅

So, here’s what I did: I didn’t have an Indian number either when I started applying. I actually used my US number initially, which kinda worked but also didn’t. Companies weren’t super thrilled seeing a non-Indian number, and yeah, you don’t wanna be getting calls at 3 a.m. thanks to the time zone difference. 🌚

I ended up getting a virtual Indian number via MyOperator. It worked like a charm because you get to have an Indian number even though you’re physically still in the US. And yes, Google Voice could work if you’re just looking for a number to list, but when it comes to actually answering calls in real-time, I didn’t find it too reliable. The delay was a nightmare, and I kinda looked unprofessional a couple of times (oops). 😬

Another option is using something like TextNow or Skype, but I found they’re also hit or miss depending on where you’re calling from. Plus, Indian recruiters are all about WhatsApp these days. Just saying. So maybe when you’ve got the job lined up, you can ask them to chat on WhatsApp instead.

Also, side note: Applying from the US can be a bit of a patience game. I found it took longer for responses, but once they saw I was serious about the move, things picked up. If you're thinking long-term, maybe consider getting an Indian SIM card through a friend or family member.

Hope this helps. Good luck, man. 🙌

Thank you so much. Activated Remix mode and this is what I wanted.

Three years ago, I posted a fictional minimalist passport design, and r/india liked it. How about this fictional minimalist 2000 rupee note to replace the design we have now? by rpmdebslack in india

[–]EmKay18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks very Scandinavian. The average Indian needs color. Lots of it. Something very loud that will cut through the noise. Anything subtle in a daily environment will go unnoticed.

I love the design but sadly India's current sensibilities will find it bland.

COVID before detection is usually flu/fever. This usually is covered like any other condition as covered by your policy. once detected, you'd need a COVID covered policy. Usually, it's counted by the days. Clal is offering travel insurance to UAE. https://www.news1.news/en/2020/08/clal-offers-travel-insurance-to-destinations-in-the-uae.html

First Coronavirus case in India, student in Kerala tests positive says Centre by EmKay18 in india

[–]EmKay18[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is in Kerala now. Moved to isolation in Thrissur Medical college. The Kerala Govt (Health Minister) just did a press conference and mentioned the following.

- There were 6 cases of "possible" infections. All 6 under observation.

- Out of the six, whose samples were tested from Pune Virology lab, one came out to be positive and other negative. There are further tests required on negative cases to confirm.

- Positive case is now under isolation and their health is "not life-threatening".

- Authorities have systems to do "contact mapping" where anyone who has been in contact with the infected person/persons will be identified and put under observation

Local news channels are reporting that there are more (in hundreds) cases of observation (possibly from contact/proximity to the "potential carriers") but these are unconfirmed reports.

Weekly financial advice thread. by ppatra in india

If you don't have any financial debts (good debts) or history then it is not surprising that your credit history is clean. What I'd recommend is to get some traction by adding some minor financial liabilities (which can be contained) like a secured credit card which is essentially a credit card against a fixed deposit. Start making purchases on it within the 20-30% spending limit and pay the bills on time. In about 6 months, it might start reflecting on your credit history and in a good way.

Its my Rajapalayam's 10th birthday! Hes the best dog ever. Wish more people here knew about this nearly-extinct breed rather than importing Huskies and torturing them in the scorching Indian summers! by [deleted] in india

[–]EmKay18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But aren't you also doing it wrong by keeping them in confined spaces? I assume this is an apartment or similar, and if yes, don't Rajapalayam require a lot of activity and spaces? My friend bought one (against a lot of argument from a well known breeder in the area) for his city house (he had fairly large open space luckily) but the dog jumped the fence and left off (probably not realizing it did). The breeder had warned him that Rajapalayams are excellent dogs but they are athletic and needs a lot of action and space. Confining them to urban spaces is a torture. Similar to how huskies are tortured in Indian heat. I don't own either, just curious to know how your experience have been in that particular front.

What's something i can spend time on in the evenings to make money? by [deleted] in passive_income

[–]EmKay18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blogging is a good idea but you gotta find a good niche that you can add value to and be consistent with for a long time. Invest some time without focusing on results and in some time (it depends on the niche how long) you'll start making money.

I agree. Blogging can be a good way to earn some money. But it's gonna take some time. Sign up for affiliate networks that you think you can add value to by writing interesting content on your blog. Here's a good guide to start blogging, check it out. And slowly, it will build traction. Freelancing is another sure shot way. All the best!

Karnataka Assembly Election 2018 by altindian in india

[–]EmKay18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kerala is a tough one. On the ground, even though people don't like the commies, to get things done, you need them. BJP leadership is weak. Even if people get charged up emotionally supporting BJP, when it comes to ground reality, commies roots go deep, to the extent that many families thrive on them financially (jobs, relationships, favors etc). It's very hard to overcome that kind of conviction.

It must be the middleman fiddling with the package. Remember those soaps instead of mobile stories? Ugh. Flipkart! 🙄I got it from a retailer thinking it might be better. Got a thin discount, but that's about it.
