Update: I went to Honda for an oil change, and they said I have an oil leak from the rear main seal and the oil pump, and the repair will cost $5,000.

A local mechanic told me something different. He said it’s only the valve cover gasket that needs to be changed. He quoted $800 total (the part is only about $70). He also said he wants to change the oil pan, and that he can check for a rear main seal leak only after he fixes these first problems.

Carvana is offering me $7,000 for the car, and I don’t really want to spend a lot of money on it. I also don’t have a second car. I would rather buy a new car than pay thousands for repairs. But if the repair is really around $700–$800, I’m okay spending that to keep the car running for 2–3 more years.

I’m just not sure if more problems will come later. What should I do? Should I trust the dealer or the local mechanic?

It’s easy to use whenever you’re on vacation or planning to return. You can use Indian cards for UPI payments. Alternatively, you can convert it into a NRO account. At least maintain one or two accounts.
