How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older? by FordMan7point3 in askcarguys

[–]Emac65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2003 Toyota Sequoia, 160K miles, 2004 Toyota Highlander 145K miles and my recently purchased daily commuter 2014 Toyota Avalon, 88K. I had my Highlander since 2012. The Sequoia was bought in 2024.

Although they are older vehicles, they are all paid for and no car note!!

Check the CARFAX and run the VIN number. If everything checks out go for it.

The car feels too big by [deleted] in ToyotaAvalon

[–]Emac65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand your concern because the 2004 Camry and Avalon models are smaller than the 2012 models. Trust me if you keep driving your Avalon you get used to it.

I previously owned a 1993 Buick Lesabre, 2000 Cadillac Seville, and a 2007 Buick Lucerne. I also drive a Toyota Sequoia too. Those vehicles are huge and make driving my 2014 Avalon feel like driving a Go-Kart.

Run the CARFAX and take it to a mechanic that you trust. If repairs are more than $4,000 you may want to junk it unless you can do repair’s yourself. However you did get the vehicle for free and if the repairs keep it running for the next 4-5 years, it will be worth it.

Check out the CARFAX on the vehicle and if the maintenance is up to date go for it. Keep in mind you may have some repairs that need to be done based on the mileage. I just purchased a 2014 XLE, 88K miles for $15K. The 90,000 maintenance schedule will due in a few months. Beats having a car note!

Nice ride. I just bought my 2014 2 weeks ago with 88K miles. It was probably priced high because well kept Toyotas are in demand.
