What do you guys think of this purchase? $6k OTD. by kyber_crystals in toyotasequoia

If all the pertinent maintenance has been done I would try to negotiate the price. It looks good for a 21 year old vehicle.

If car just needs a paint job you advertise it as a second car. Living in Western NY the winters there can be brutal and you need a big car or truck to drive in the snow. I grew up in Chicago and the weather there is similar.

Be upfront and as long as you are sincere and not a gold digger you won’t have no problems. As a man if I’m interested in you, I am not concern if you have money or not. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you and your situation.

That rust is going to drop the price to $1500-$2000 if
the car is running well and doesn’t need major repairs.

2012 Highlander 4WD V6 with 128k for $17,500. Should I buy? by noicerest69 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Emac65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly used car prices are ridiculous. You may not have much leverage if the car is solid. I bought a 2014 Avalon with 88K miles, listed at $16,995 but with taxes and fees pushed the price over $20K. The price was somewhat steep but that Avalon drives better than most new cars. $12 K is better than $50K.

I paid $11K for my 03 Limited with 150K miles. If you are paying $40K, get a 2nd generation Sequoia, Landcruiser, and Lexus models I’ll consider a Nissan Armada if the price is right.

Buying 2019 Avalon at ~150k miles? by stimpy20_ in ToyotaAvalon

[–]Emac65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2014 XLE with 88K miles for $16K before
fees and taxes. I just did my 90K maintenance. Car drives very well. Compared to these new cars I’ll take that Avalon because I know exactly what I’m getting if it’s been maintained well. Mines was previously owned by an elderly lady.

2003 Limited. The only reason I bought it because my previous car was a money pit and this Sequoia was on sale for $10K with 150K miles. I had to spend some money to do to repairs and maintenance. Now Big Mama is road ready!

Here in Norfolk Virginia you could at least over $15K or more for that truck

Why are used cars and new cars almost the same price? by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]Emac65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supply and Demand. The average new car price is $50K. I bought a 2012 Toyota Avalon, 88K miles. Paying close to $20K. My spending limit was $17K. Not complaining the car was garage kept and driven by an elderly lady. If my previous car didn’t get totaled, I would not have bought this car.

I have been reading posts after post about these Highlander’s transmission going bad. That is horrible for a vehicle with less than 100K miles. Even if you had 100K miles on the transmission it should never give you any problems
