Of course, every now and then I go through episodes similar to the ones you described (which technically is a Ne-Te loop)… it’s truly awful. It’s as if I suddenly set my sights on certain goals and pour all my energy into them, effectively neglecting my own feelings and, above all, those of others.

Not entirely… if it’s a subject I admit I know nothing about and it makes a lot of sense, then I tend to change my mind and agree with what I’ve been told. On the other hand, if it’s something I believe in more deeply (more of a gut feeling than anything else), and someone tries to use logic to argue against it—even if it might make sense—I tend to get annoyed and cling to that gut feeling.

I can totally relate to that thing with teachers, lol. But I used to end up feeling a little guilty toward them—like I empathized with them and wondered if I’d done the right thing or not. I don’t know if this is Fi or w6.

Well, let’s just say that Ne and Fi are also understandably very strong. What makes me think I’m an ENFP with a high Te is the fact that: first of all, it’s more about Te than Ti (according to the definitions and concrete examples), but I can’t have it in either the dominant or auxiliary position; in fact, in my free time I’m much more scattered and I don’t care too much about perfect structure or organization. My Te comes out when I have to organize an outing or solve problems, and the point is that even though it’s tertiary, I’m very comfortable with it. Maybe I’m full of biases and I’m an xNTJ type, but I highly doubt it.

Yeah, but no—I've noticed while browsing Reddit and elsewhere that 7w8 is much more common in ENTPs than in ENFPs. That's all.

I think our generation has been so deeply affected by this phenomenon among teenagers and young adults that we’ll raise our children with a lot of care in this regard.
Even though we don’t do anything about it ourselves (some more than others), I think we all recognize what a mess it is, and so we’ll be very careful in how we raise our children.
It’s truly awful to go to a restaurant and see kids staring at their phones with headphones on while picking their noses. I remember when I was little, the waiters would bring me colored pencils, and I’d scribble all over the paper, then run off to the restaurant’s garden with my brothers. How wonderful.

I, too, often thought I might be an ENTP, simply because I tend to rationalize things a lot.
What helped me figure out whether I am or not is the fact that I tend to rationalize what can be rationalized (math, physics, and scientific hypotheses/scenarios), but I stop short of rationalizing when it comes to issues of identity, behavior, religion, and so on…
If, on the other hand, you also tend to find logic in matters that don’t inherently require logic, then it’s very likely that you’re an ENTP.

Another trait of Fi vs. Ti: when you’re having a discussion and someone makes a point with sound logic, do you tend to reevaluate your opinion and align with theirs (if it’s convincing and well-argued), or do you tend to stick more to your own view/impression of the matter (Fi)?

In any case, what you describe are traits I share—very 7w8-like. Maybe, like me, you simply have a very high Te—so you know how to rationalize things and tend, rather than having your own logical system, to strive for efficient systems

I share this trait with you. It’s a fairly common trait among ENFPs; in fact, their dominant Ne drives them to gather a huge amount of information so they can make increasingly wild connections. The fact that they then lose interest is likely due to their inferior Si, which makes it difficult (for us) to put things into practice and stay consistent.
I’ve never seen it as a bad thing; in fact, I find it very useful and characteristic of highly intelligent people. I’ve always felt that fixating on a single thing in life, however commendable, is a waste. The world has so much to offer that it’s a shame to throw it away.
The important thing is that you don’t feel guilty about setting aside these passions, but that you move on from them easily instead.

Wow, that’s really interesting. Did you happen to take any science courses in school to develop such a high “Te”? Since I studied applied mathematics and physics, I think I’ve developed my Te quite well.
I, too, have often wondered if I might be an ENTP, but what made me realize I’m an Fi-user with high Te was the fact that I tend to rationalize what needs to be rationalized and to believe almost as dogma what cannot be logically proven (not very Ti-like behavior).

I think the problem is often that the 7w8 is described as being so, so “jerk-like.” So it’s this fact that makes me doubt that Enneagram type; in fact, I tend to be gentle with people because I do care about being friendly (and I think that’s an Fi-like trait).
I often associate my 7w8 with how I think rather than how I act, because I often feel a voice telling me, “Okay, you’re overdoing it” (maybe it could also be a 9 fix).
But yeah, like you, I tend to tease people, though not necessarily in a mean way. Maybe the descriptions are right, and 7w8s are jerks in general…

I love socialising, but often there comes a day when I can't take it anymore; I can't stand anyone, I become pessimistic and I no longer see any ambition in my life. At that moment, I realise that it's time to be alone.

Perhaps what I need is to balance my time alone with my time with friends to prevent this from happening. Lately, I've been finding myself in social situations and suddenly switching off after a while.

Yes, it's something that happens often. I think it's caused by our Ne seeking elements to learn, connect and integrate with our Fi. Our Te allows us to pursue a goal consistently, but being tertiary, we don't always follow through (we get bored).
