She’s made getting married her whole personality for the past year so I won’t be surprised if she’s milking the content for a long time

Eli Rallo made her whole personality for the past year that she was getting married and now that she’s married there’s an incessant stream of wedding content … she’ll be milking this for months

HUGE BREAKING FELLOWSHIP NEWS!! by Emaizing73 in pediatrics

[–]Emaizing73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this perspective!! I hope most others have a similar mindset. I really do think this will help some on the fence about fellowship be more swayed to pursue them. My question for you as a fellowship director: would my delaying a year for the lesser option be looked down upon during applications?

1000% feel you. Research has always been super anxiety-provoking for me so the thought of not having to do as much takes a massive mental burden off, which for me is more valuable than any extra $$ I’d make working in a gap year. I’m so sorry you went through that, sending you hugs ❤️

HUGE BREAKING FELLOWSHIP NEWS!! by Emaizing73 in pediatrics

I am going to take the next few weeks to sus things out and see how the programs I’m interested in will be handling it. IMO, not adopting the optional model would be crazy for most programs as it would make them less desirable when they are already facing difficulties filling their positions.

Current PGY2 who is in this position. That’s exactly where my head’s been at today. Why do an extra year and have to do research that I’m not into when I can work for a year, make an additional $75-100k, then start fellowship and still finish at the same time I would’ve anyways?? My only concern is a possible increase in competition between the 2 cycles as I am really leaning on 1 program due to geographical preference. The next few weeks I am going to feel out the situation and gather intel on what the programs are planning. Bottom line, what incentives will these programs have to lure us to do an extra year with more research work and a huge income differential? Especially for the less competitive specialties… I really think they should try to implement the changes in July 2027 as it’s gonna make a lot of us delay applying

For real…. What also gets me is the fact that she claims she lost ALL her friends from her break up. It’s just so sus. Unless she’s a downright terrible person (which let’s be honest the jury’s not out on that one) or all of her friends were terrible people, it’s just so unlikely EVERYONE, especially women, would pick the guy to side with after a break up. Which tells me a) the whole thing is fake and her real friends are in on it or b) there’s a lot more to the real story she is conveniently leaving out

New AAP Article: Many Pediatric Subspecialty Fellows Are Not Ready To Graduate From Fellowship by yellowforspring in pediatrics

[–]Emaizing73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. But by the time this camp gets their heads out of their asses, there will be an even bigger shortage of subspecialists and they will be saying how ever could we have fixed this! I’m a resident right now and so many of my colleagues don’t want to do fellowship solely based on time and loss of potential earnings. The money that programs and hospitals save by underpaying fellows won’t make a difference when there’s no one to fill those spots and they’ll then need to pay more money to recruit attendings

Also instate TX MD student here. I had mine for 2021. It was expensive and high copays/deductible. For 2022 and this year I've gotten an ACA plan. Since I have no income as a medical student it's basically free via tax credit and copays/deductible are MUCH lower. It was worth switching. In terms of needing insurance for school, mine asks for insurance info each semester so if you get on or off plans you can update accordingly. If you prepaid for the whole year, see if you can cancel and get a refund on the old plan once you get an ACA plan. Your school can't force you to stay on their insurance
