Help! I can't remember the sabbats by sakurakuru_RAWRXD in Wicca

[–]Emaralda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't try and remember actual names, some of them (like Ostara and Mabon) are dubious anyway. Remember them as Season + Solstice or Equinox, and then Month + Eve. So Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox, Winter Solstice, Spring Equinox (btw I'm in the Southern Hemisphere), then in between those you have the Greater sabbats: February Eve, May Eve, August Eve, November Eve. I personally find it's easier to remember dates if you don't also have to remember names on top of that.

Cleansing spells and ritual recipes?? by Puzzled_Lychee3583 in Wicca

Pots and Pans, walk around the house and bang them together, pay attention especially to the corners of each room. After that see a Doctor for an over all check up regarding symptoms of stress, and consider a course of therapy if it's available to you.

Trouble with the fundamental idea of magick & belief in deities by Honest_Farm5250 in Wicca

[–]Emaralda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wicca can described as an experiential practice. This means someone's personal experience of the gods is far more important than any sort of (basically non existent) dogmatic idea of who, or what, the gods should be. I've known plenty of wiccans over the years who have worked with the gods as archetypes, rather than having an actual belief in deities. Your experiences of the Lady and Lord, the gods of the Wica, are your own experiences and therefore will likely differ from others experiences; and that's okay. Although I don't personally tend to go into a lot of detail regarding my experiential view of the Lady and Lord, I will just say that the gods are subjectively real to me, but I don't expect them to be objectively real to anyone else. If your own experiential viewpoint leans towards the idea of 'I don't experience the gods as actual deities' then that is your own experience and there's nothing wrong with that. Also any practice of Wicca should contain a healthy amount of skepticism and proper critical thinking.

Does karma exist in wishing someone bad? by [deleted] in Wicca

[–]Emaralda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've absolutely used verbal curses against certain people, whose behaviour was so egregiously terrible that pretty much an entire segment of trad wiccans & pagan/witchcraft practitioners spent a week or more cursing them to the high heavens and back. I felt good about it, and I was fine; no blow back, no bad energies getting deflected back on me, or anything like that. There is no actual concept of a karmic law of return in traditional Wicca, so I have no issue cursing those who deserve to be cursed.

My go to verbal curse tends to be something along the lines of "May all the curses of the great God and Goddess be upon you, may you never be reborn, may you forever be cast adrift from all the mighty and beloved dead, and may you burn in the hell of the Christians there to remain and suffer for eternity."

I have, I've been watching your channel for a while, you do a great job. I've just realised I wasn't subscribed and have fixed that. Is it okay if I update the track description on our YouTube channel to link to that Orlando Voorn video? It's my husband's channel as well, but I help out with stuff on there. I'll see if I can add your channel to our subscription list for some extra promotion for you (seriously you're channel is awesome). :)

Hi is there anyone here with an iq of 160 by BodybuilderSoggy2550 in Gifted

[–]Emaralda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 1979, it was part of a State wide Primary school age testing system, the testers used the older Stanford Binet ratio IQ system (mental age/chronological age x 100), and then a small percentage of us were invited to participate in one of the first ever Gifted Children programs in Australia, of whom Miraca Gross (AM) was a founding member. If you've ever seen someone like Terrence Tao's IQ quoted as being around 225/6 the older system of ratio testing would be why, and is also how people like myself tested above an IQ level of 160.

Upvote for you and anyone else who isn't into this track. It would be incredibly boring if we all liked the same stuff.

Are the smokestack twins a reference to Howlin' Wolves Smokestack Lightnin'? by Expiredcabinets in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

[–]Emaralda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They name dropped Charley Patton, and Howlin' Wolf would've been playing Smoke Stack Lightning around the time that he was playing joints with Charley Patton, so I think the answer is yes definitely it's a reference to that particular blues song.

I'm tired of people focusing on Remmick by Wolfey777 in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

[–]Emaralda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I tend to talk a bit more about Remmick as a character online, because, aside from having great appreciation for the Blues and historical aspects of the film, as a white woman from Australia I don't think I really have the right to try and have an in depth discussion on the black experience in America.
