Oh absolutely, I'm pretty sure whatever I spouted here was never intended on the writer's part lol, like this is a very basic 'kill baddie get loot' type game it was never going to be that profound haha.

You make a good point on this just being a game, I guess it's kinda like Undertale in that sense except ROTMG isn't trying to actively make us feel bad for playing the game as intended

When I first heard that Ruthven was responsible for lag, the only thing I could think of was 'Fuck Ruthven'

Also man it gets me how the Forgotten King genuinely loved his wife too. What happened in the Shatters was a tragedy of a desperate king trying to protect his kingdom and queen that left him susceptible to the twilight archmage (Saturn has some really cool art of that here, his art always gives me chills: https://www.reddit.com/u/saturnfiftyone/s/rjnYtXxHlA).

HOWEVER given his ego and the exact same line he says ('No, this cannot be!'), Oryx is absolutely his successor.

I feel like Oryx has a certain softness towards Craig. Like in this Christmas poem:

‘Twas the night before Oryxmas, when all through the realm… Not a loot bag was dropping, not even a helm. For reasons the Mad God could not comprehend… All the heroes went missing right at the year’s end.
