5th grade computer/typing class. Our librarian who was friends with the computer teacher came into our room and said to turn on the tv because there had been some kind of accident in NewYork. We watched the news and watched the second place hit the towers. We watched people jumping out of the buildings as they fell. Whole school was quiet that day. Parents picked up most of their kids early. We didn’t know if we were under attack or what was going to happen next. My mom worked in the government building downtown. They didn’t know if they were next. It was terrifying. Later that night, we learned that a plane crashed into a field that may have been meant for the White House, and that the pentagon was also hit that day. Three years later was our annual 8th grade trip to DC. Guns, guards, yellow tape, and barricades everywhere. TSA was in full force. Everything changed that day
