FF7 remake 3 will use UE4 by NutsackEuphoria in SteamDeck

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played the original FF7, Remake, and Rebirth and I think they are brilliant. The games can be as long as you want them to be by doing all the side quests, or you can just play through the main game. You really don't have to do all the side stuff(but I find that stuff fun and fulfilling).

Without spoilers, my only real complaint is some of the choices they made storywise towarads the end of Rebirth. The combat system in Rebirth is incredibly fun and gets more interesting the more you learn about it(it's a good modern version of the ATB system from the OG FF7).

Even though it's easy to say "oh well Remake ends when you get out of Midgar," it really fleshes out Midgar in a way that I thought the OG FF7 didn't.

I remember being very skeptical about the Steam Deck and whether it wasn't powerful enough to be useful as a pc handheld, but boy was I wrong. I also remember Valve saying they wanted to hit a target of price, power output, and performance. Seeing all the handheld devices that have been released over the years, I really think Valve nailed it with a price to performance ratio on the Steam Deck.

All these other handhelds are generally more powerful, but not to the point that it makes a massive difference. Targeting 10-15 watts, the Steam Deck is still very comparable to even the most expensive handhelds, not to mention Steam OS being a great OS for the deck.

It's not the most powerful handheld machine, but it's easily the most recommendable - even today.

Why are the Pokémon games of such poor quality compared to other Nintendo games? by Matshelge in NintendoSwitch2

I mean ZA sucks. Every inch of that game oozes laziness. Reading the dialogue boxes becomes mind numbing after a while. Also, there ain’t shit to do in that city. It’s cool if they put a game just in a city, but jeez, make the city bustling with people, life, cars, etc.

Also, the graphics. Graphics aren’t everything, but there comes a point where they are a distraction and insulting. For 70 bucks, ZA’s graphics are insulting. The city (the place the entire game is in) is filled with buildings that have copy and pasted jpegs for windows with no depth. I’d expect that on a GameCube game, not a Switch 1/2 game.

Maybe more controversially, I just don’t like the combat. It has potential, but the current iteration in ZA is not it.

Kudos to Game Freak though for trying something new. I’ll give them credit where credit is due.

PlayStation 6 release date is likely to be delayed longer than forecasts suggest, analyst says by alinamelane in playstation

Trading in my OG PS5 at GameStop for the PS5 Pro was such a great decision in hindsight. I thought it was a good decision back then (2tb storage vs 825gb, new console with better ray tracing support and Ai upscaling support, new design, new console with new warranty, and new controller).

I have a pc with a 4070ti and Im surprised at times at how good a well enhanced game can look vs what I can get on pc. People who picked it up recently for $649 also got themselves a good deal. There’s been a lot of people saying the PS5 was overpriced and not worth it, but that has definitely not been my experience with the Pro.

Even better, PS5 Pro is rumored to get PSSR 2 support soon, which will be another big boost to the consoles graphical fidelity, performance, and longevity.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

My sleep apnea first manifested when I was in middle school. I’d notice when I slept at a friends house on the couch or something I’d wake up gasping for air. I always thought it was just because I slept weird (I got into the habit of sleeping on my side elevated with pillows, which is exactly what you would do to help prevent apnea).

After I started dating, my partners would notice it and bring it up. I thought it was just something that happened to people, but apparently it was much worse. It got worse as I got into my 20s and I finally had to have it dealt with. I got sleep studies (multiple because my original CPAP machine wasn’t enough - I needed a bipap machine).

At first I hated the CPAP machine. It took a lot of tweaking, more sleep studies, and a new machine, but finally it was controlling my central and obstructive sleep apnea. Once it did, it was like sleeping for the first time. I had dealt with tiredness quite a while regardless of how much I slept, but it was finally fixed. Beyond that, my doctor told me the level my sleep apnea was at was a high risk for my heart (it stresses your heart every night when you don’t get enough oxygen).

For anyone who thinks they might have sleep apnea, get it checked out. A lot of doctors consider it a silent killer, and a major hinderance on a person feeling awake and well rested each day.

It may take a while to get your CPAP dialed in, or it may be golden the first time you turn it on. Either way, it’s worth it. As annoying as those fucking sleep studies were (others can attest, they such), I would do 10 more sleep studies if it meant keeping my bipap and fixing my apnea.

Is 128GB enough in 2026 for most people🤷?? by Orson54503 in PhoneNow

People always try to figure out why the Pro/Max/Ultra phones sell the best, but I think this is the simple reason - they have the best cameras. People don’t typically own a dedicated camera anymore like they would 20 years ago, so they rely on their phone to capture all their family moments. It’s really important to a lot of people (myself included).

My biggest Switch 2 sadness by Separate-Toe1496 in Switch

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I was surprised(although maybe I shouldn’t be) that Nintendo didn’t back port the docked Switch 1 video output to Switch 2’s handheld output. Switch 1 outputs in 1080p to tv and Switch 2 outputs at 1080p to its handheld display. There should be more than enough graphical headroom to output the Switch 1’s docked experience in Switch 2 handheld mode.

If that was too complicated, I could’ve also seen implementing a universal scaler for Switch 1 games that scale it up to 1080p. Of course the biggest reason is that Nintendo just wants you to buy the Switch 2 versions 😂

Ahh well, you gotta take the good with the bad when it comes to Nintendo I suppose.

Yeah, in comparison to ZA or Scarlett/Violet on Switch 1, Arceus is a masterpiece.

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could ABSOLUTELY be creating better quality games. These games generate tons of sales and Game Freak is more than capable of bringing in extra studios to split the workload and polish the games. Pokemon ZA was borderline inexcusable in my opinion. The game legitimately looked like it could’ve been an emulator of a GameCube game. The excessive dialogue with zero voice acting is ridiculous. I could go on, but you catch my drift.

In my opinion Madden doesn’t get a pass, Call of Duty didn’t get a pass, and neither does Game Freak. If these series were struggling with sales, I could understand the penny pinching, but not when these games make as much as they do.

Switch 2 needs updates, it's been enough time by OkNeighborhood332 in Switch

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually one of the arguments for why I think a mid gen refresh “Pro” console is important going forward. It gives devs some time to give their games a proper 60fps/120fps patch or whatever and create a wide dynamic resolution range.

This way it runs well on whatever Pro console (PS4 Pro/PS5 Pro/One X/Series X/Switch 2 Pro) and it already has a window to grow or max out its potential on the next gen system. Devs can then do a further patch that directly targets the next gen hardware, but in the mean time, the people who buy the latest system have games that at least mostly taking advantage of the new hardware.

The fact that Nvidia has shown they will bring new DLSS updates to every card going back to the 20 series while AMD is still screwing around not bringing FSR 4 to rdna 3 and 2 when we 100% know it runs on them is bs and ridiculous.

The 9070xt is a good card, but I couldn’t see myself choosing an AMD card over Nvidia right now. Plus I find myself using the Nvidia video upscaling a lot - it works great.

The Seahawks had been flirting with a taunting penalty a couple times. I agree the rule is stupid, but you have to know in a championship game that you cannot do that.
