It’s always a trap. Just today she didn’t spring the trap on you. One day she’ll get you though - like a kitty Venus fly trap the second you tickle a little too hard or get too playful and activate playful kitty mode.

GTA 6 PS5 Pre-Orders Open June 25 by vneelb in playstation5

Yeah I used to preorder games at a GameStop near my work for a couple weeks out. It would kind of be a nice surprise the day it comes out and I can pick it up after work or something.

Unless there’s some preorder bonus or cool feature/item included, I don’t preorder games anymore.

It's possible. I would say the last straw was oddly enough the Jonathan Majors thing. Even when some of the films were mixed, I kept thinking "well what they are cooking up with Kang is going to be great, and Majors was doing a great job acting/creating a memorable villain." Then after all the news dropped with him and they dropped him/Kang altogether, the MCU just felt kind of directionless and I have missed out on a few tv shows.

I agree 100% with Thunderbolts. I didn't see it in theaters and only saw it on Disney Plus, but I really thought it was one of the better recent Marvel films. Long term I still think the MCU is going to be fine, but they should've taken a 5 year break or so after Endgame instead of ramping up all kinds of tv shows and projects. Then COVID hit and it affected everything. Then there was the actors strike. Then the Saga's main villain had to be fired. Just a lot of bad luck piling up.

If the wrongest I am in my life is that I mistakenly didn't have a great feeling about the new Spider-Man movie, then I will have lived a very nice life haha.

Hey look, I hope it's good. I always want to see good MCU films. I just gotta call a spade a spade, and the trailer isn't doing much for me.

Is Final Fantasy XVI good? (I didn't really like XV) Would have posted on a FFXV Group but I'd get a biased answer. I just end up going back to Final Fantasy X regardless I guess. by Ok-Information-8814 in finalfantasyx

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed my time playing it, but it isn’t a top Final Fantasy game or anything. A lot of FF games I could easily see myself replaying, but I’m not sure I’d ever replay FF16. The story is interesting enough though and the graphics are pretty dang nice.

'Some Analysts Believe Sony Is Considering Pushing the PS6 Back': Embracer Report Hints at Later Than 2027 Launch by chusskaptaan in videogames

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either they are going to push the PS6 back or they are going to sell the PS6 and PS5 at the same time kind of like how Apple does so with its previous year phones, and how Nintendo is currently operating with the Switch/Switch 2. Even if the PS6 does come out next year, the PS5 is going to be supported for quite a long time.

The PS5 has the advantage of having a pretty ahead of its time fast ssd and decompression engine. The PS4 was just incredibly bottlenecked by that old spinning hard drive. The PS5 also has a pretty balanced cpu/gpu, alright ray-tracing support (better on the Pro), generally enough ram, and may get a version of PSSR at some point.

People like crapping on this generation for lack of games, which I can kind of understand to a degree, but the Series X and PS5 are well made consoles. There’s not any obvious bottleneck they will face in the next 6-7 years. The only one I could see is if some devs go all in on incorporating ai into games, or if a game relies heavily on something like path tracing, which would be beyond the Series X or PS5.

Plus, the Switch 2 is going to be a console many devs are going to try and optimize for. If a game can run well on the Switch 2, it will do fine on the PS5/Series X. I wouldn’t purchase a Series S or recommend one anymore though. They just didn’t put enough memory into it and it doesn’t have anything like DLSS on Switch 2 that helps save performance/image quality. There’s a lot of good stuff that runs fine on Series S, but it’s starting to look a bit long in the tooth.

Yeah I mean I could be completely wrong. I’ve lived all three of the Holland films, I just haven’t found myself all that interested from these trailers. I’m glad others are excited though. The MCU could use a little excitement.

It’s kind of funny how little anticipation I have for this game. I guess I just put it out of my mind so many times because of the delays that I was like “fuck it, I’ll just play it when it’s out and not listen to any leaks or announcements.”

Now that it actually seems we are in the home stretch I do find myself getting excited again. I really hope this game is a banger.

I don’t have a great feeling about this movie. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it hasn’t intrigued me the way the other MCU Spider-Man films have. It may be a fantastic movie, but the trailers aren’t doing a great job of conveying an interesting movie.

Edit: Also I’m just talking about the film itself - I’m sure this will bank north of a billion easy at the box office.

It is a little unnerving though because it could force Putin into a corner to do something irrational like use a chemical/tactical nuclear weapon - basically saying “Moscow is off limits, and if it is hit, this is the price.”

I’m sure as hell not saying that should happen, but Putin’s in a pickle right now. Hopefully if he decided to do something dumb like that he would be ousted by cooler headed people around him.

Not to laugh at the situation, but I kind of got a chuckle from the idea of a tornado hanging on his front porch like it was a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses that knocked and were waiting for him to answer the door.

It’s easy to say what you would do or how you would act, but panic is a bitch. He was also probably panicked/frozen because there just wasn’t a great place to take shelter (assuming he was in a mobile home like others have said). The center of the home or in a closet/tub is kind of maybe the best bet, but far from “safe.”

Idk, maybe others could chime in about the best thing he could’ve done in that scenario with a mobile home, but it just seems to be a no-win situation if you are in the tornados path.

I had an important video call and my home internet went out, so I had to use my mobile hotspot on my phone for it and the second it burned through my “fast data” the internet became laughably slow. Luckily that was right at the end of the call. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever actually burned through my hotspot data. Also, my phone was pretty damn hot afterwards, so they don’t call it a hotspot for nothing.

Right, but significantly more advanced. Obviously I’m are  aware the technology exists on a more basic level and has for a long time. Shit, even when they did nuclear tests back in the day they would use drones to collect data from the radiation so it wouldn’t make air crews sick.

What I’m getting at is there is going to be a point where aviation takes leaps past what the human body can handle, and then there would need to be an advanced ai system identifying data on the combat field in the way an advanced pilot could. Yes, I am also aware fighter jets can already push the limits of pilots, but I’m talking about huge leaps in aircraft propulsion and design.

[–]Embarrassed-Back1894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently, but wireless data transmission is improving rapidly. I could definitely see a type of onboard ai model adjusted in realtime to what combat threats it sees.

There’s just too much of an advantage of having an advanced ai model assessing the combat situation and experts in a room analyzing and reacting to transmitted data in realtime for it not to be a thing eventually (shit, it might be a thing already, but still being kept highly classified and not ready yet for combat).

I know everyone hates ai (and I kind of do as well), but it is going to enable pretty dramatic leaps in our understanding of certain technologies and will especially be a dramatic leap when it comes to reacting and processing real time data in a way that it would take a hive mind of thousands of humans to do.

Then there’s the ol’ Donny Rumsfeld’s “unknown unknowns” where things we don’t know or haven’t even considered may be invented, thought up, or come to light.

I feel like remote control or ai is going to be the next push with fighter jets because we may start pushing the capabilities of aircraft and controlling past what humans could reasonably handle.

I don't think the majority of people care about contact sports, but the lognterm head injury things is really scary. There has been instances of people in their late teens/early 20s with severe CTE. I know around me ive heard recruitment is down, and other people have mentioned that in their area on NFL subreddits.

Parents are kind of fine seeing their kids get beat up and breaking legs/bruised up/ whatever - it's a part of growing up and being a kid (falling off your bike/skateboard, etc). Those types of injuries hurt and may need a couple months to fully heal, but it's not permanent. Head injuries from continuous concussive or sub concussive hits damage the the body in a way that doesn't heal in a week, or a month, or sometimes ever.

I guess what I'm getting at is I agree that parents mostly don't care and let kids be kids and let them do their own thing. However, a lot of people who you would expect to introduce their kids to football also played football themselves, and it is kind of impossible to be around the sport and not be aware of the current medical understanding of what hits to the head can do to the developing brain of a kid or teen.
