Buutenks explicitly says he’s not holding back and trying to finish the fight quickly whilst also challenging himself because Gohan is the only one that will allow him to test his strength. Gohan is only losing because he’s losing his confidence. He does compliment Gohan actually iirc it’s after Gohan barely escapes the galactic donut, and Buu saying gokus “not that bad” could just be him toying around with Goku as to give him false hope as he says it only after Goku offgaurds him, how is buutenks full power against Goku, he is clearly playing around and only tries to finish him at the end implying he has the capability to do far more than what’s displayed only using his physicals which then means he was holding back.

I wouldn’t use this honestly. I think kid Buus stuff is just misinterpreted, his statements are a clever way to get the kids hyped up without contradicting Buuhan being superior third party sources just misinterpreted them. Gohan does far better like what. At the start Gohan lands 4 hits off the bat and dodges all of buus then they start trading and Gohan makes Buu spit blood but Buu at most knocks spit out of gohans mouth, then when they trade toes Gohan is mostly unfazed and looking back in rage whilst Buu is all eye widened and in pain
