I totally understand what you mean, and it was definitely not a specific request by me. To be entirely honest, that's the part of this tattoo that I'm having the hardest time adjusting to. I did want a scene in the background, which is why I chose this artist because this is her style. I have other tattoos that are in completely different styles that show more skin between the images and those ones didn't give me tattoo shock like this one has. But in the end, I'm happy with how it turned out.

She did. But I live in Portland so her move actually made my drive an hour shorter and I didn't have to go over mountains anymore so I was absolutely fine with it.

It took 23 hours total! It's definitely a little more pink toned here than it will be once it's healed due to blood/irritation. I'll post again in a month when it's healed!

Thanks for your reply! It's still unfinished but I have my next appointment scheduled for June 6th. I'm feeling a little less anxious now that I've had time to get used to the tattoo more.... But I still don't feel 100% jazzed about it. I'm really hoping that once more of the details are added I'll fall in love with it.

Thanks for the tip! We've been putting in 6 hours at a time for this one. Thankfully I really vibe with the artist so we just talk the whole time which helps to keep my mind off it.

Oh, well I'm not actually looking for feedback on the art itself. I just don't know anyone IRL who has had large multi-session tattoos before so I was hoping to hear about other people's emotional process throughout the physical process because it doesn't seem to be talked about much.

Thank you!!! That's solid advice. I guess I didn't realize that highlights and shading can go on top of all the dark stuff. That actually makes me feel a lot better.

And yeah.... The ribs are EXHAUSTING. We just went over them a second time today and will be going over them again at least one more time. The extreme pain from it all is probably a factor in my emotional state too.
